this is my first turbo car, and I was wondering if there are any gurus out there that could give me a idea of hat it takes to get into the 12s with bolt ons. thanks

Excellent on the 86 GN... It doesn't take a whole lot to get into the 12s, that is, be quicker than most cars on the road. ;)
What's done to the car now?
First for me was Dual exhaust/Cat back. That helped alot. K&N, 3 cat or 3" Testpipe, 3" downpipe. Gotta Posi? Fuel system upgrade(s.) Trans cooler, shift kit, intermediate band servo upgrade. Scan tool/Turbolink.

I dont have much

All I have on my 86 is a tta fuel pump, k&n, 3" exhuast turbo back, new valve springs, jay carter chip. All that is keeping me from running a consistant 12s is tires. I have traction problems :(

Read gnttype.org. Performe the spring cleaning items. If you are not sure of the fuel pump, get a new high flow pump with a hot wire kit. GET A SCAN TOOL. The easiest thing to do is to locate someone with a TR in your area. A fellow GN owner (Lance aka Mile Hi GN) helped me get to know my car when it came to racing. After your car is running in top form, take it to the track and see what she runs. After that, a Race chip, race gas, 20# of boost and race tires will have you well on your way to the 12's.

fuel pump, race gas, adj fuel pressure regulator, 108 chip, slicks, open dump/cat, and a scantool.. 20 PSI boost.. be there easy.

a little more.. alky kit, fuel pump, alky chip, slicks, adj fuel pressure reg, scantool.. 20 PSI boost.. your there.

Assumming the motor is in sound running condition.
