Getting a turbo v6 form a friend. Its an 86. Can some one tell me what i got to do to make it like the 87 turbo high output and the high horsepower engine that they put in the GNX. Please email the list to paulmsmith34@hotmail.com if to long to put here. All the help i can get will be greatly helpfull thanks guys.:)

86 and 87 are essentially the same intercooled setup. The GNX had a specific turbo, trans valve body (I think), rear suspension setup, rims/tires, and badging- otherwise- it's the same at the GN.

Is this going to be hard to put it in to an 86 Regal Limited that is factory with a olds 307 v8. My friend not shure that he has the wire harness from the firewall to the engine but does have the computer. will that harness plug in to the firewall and work.

You need to post the "rest of the story" first:)

To transplant the LC2 into your Limited, you'll need:
LC2 engine with all the bits (turbo, IC, etc)
transmission
complete harness
ECM
electric fan
and more!!!

Add lots of patience, and you'll git 'er dun!

Have fun!

Well its like this, I picked the car up about 7 years ago (i just love regals dont matter if it is a limited, t type or gn they mi high school dream car  ) So i payed$200.00 for it and since then it lived in the driveway. It runs but i want to restore it first. The color is maroon:mad: but it is going to the garage when i get the striped 82 out. The 82 had the 231 in it but i managed to put a chevy 350 in it. now it rusted out. My friend wants the frame and floor pan so he is giving me the 86 turbo engine that came out of a t-type. He is going to look for all the stuff i need (he went though a move a few years ago) I just want to do the engine swipe right. thats the reasons for the ?'s

SORRY  The V6 is an 84 turbo i thought he said an 86 .Please forgive me i promise not to do it agin:biggrin:

Your going to need a lot of the same things but a 84 is a hot air setup, your better off going with the 86-87 intercooled setup. Look for a wrecked 86-87 TR and use that. Forget the 84.
And one other thing if your going to put a chevy motor in a Buick please do not post here! :D

Sorry did not to mean to afend any one but that 350 was all i had at the time. Only making $6.00 an hour in 1997 i did what i could.I fact at least it is better then a Found On Road Dead car. It it ran. ( Ya i would scrap a new FORD to buy a GM that was a rust bucket):D

You're not offending anybody- that is, unless you refuse to bathe:eek:

Best get some thick skin around here........

Fast is correct- the best swap is using the 86/87 setup, as there are very few vendors supporting the 84/85 engines. As you'll have the engine, you COULD piecemeal together a setup. You'd need:

harnesses (engine and injector) and ecm
headers/crossover
complete intake
turbo
intercooler
etc, etc, etc

can you smell the $$$ adding up? Find a wrecked 86/87 and transplant everything- it'll save you aggravation in the long run.

BTW, best watch out 'bout dissin' them Fords.....or I may be forced to send my Excursion over for a visit:biggrin:

It is turbo, after all...

Ya i do not disagree with fast but i hope that he understands that a man is got to get to work. The V6 was tied up.I got the 350 from my dad and it was free.(Freashly rebuilt) I got the Regal for $35.00 and a trip to Dayton OH to get it.
YA i bathe every day. If i did not the wife would make me sleep with the dogs

My buddy has a 87 turbo t and it had the v6 tuned running 10s and alot of money to make it that fast,he pulled it and dropped in a small block 406 built and now has no tuning issues and is very consistant and for alot less money. He ruined the value of that car,but its his choice. Now imagine putting a turbo on the SBC:eek:

Now that same friend has just dropped the v6 turbo motor in his 70 shelby replica:confused: To me I think the old school muscle should sound like old school muscle and he ruined the value of that car by putting in the buick v6(imo),but its his choice...anyway,dont bother putting that motor in,like everyone has said, its cheaper and easier to go with the 86-87..good luck..

well the 82 was just for trasportation at that time. Now i got a my 92 chevy truck and the wife got 2000 jeep. Now I got my work cut out for me i am going to take the 86 and strip it and freshing it up new paint, new body mounts etc. My thing is the olds 307 factory engine. It runs good but to darn heavy of an engine.Thats why i would like to get a turbo V6 for it. i will be looking for a GN hood for it some time to.
