I bought the Razor's alky kit for my 87 GN. Do I need the MAP sensor? What does it do?

Lastly, some helpful, practical hints/advice on how and where to install components for a nice clean install. Also, things not to do. Thank you in advance!

If you bought the system new it comes with instructions. Just follow them.

If you bought the system used, contact me at idoxlr8_70@yahoo.com for instructions. Please include date on PAC Controller.

The MAP=Manifold Air Pressure sensor used with my kit on the Buicks is a 3 bar. It will read up to 29.4 PSI boost. What it does is send a signal that is picked up by the PAC and it then regulates how much alky is shot into the motor. The higher the signal output from the sensor, the more alky thats delivered into the motor. Once your boost hits 29.4 PSI, the sensor will not read any higher. Basically if your boost is at 18 PSI and the boost goes to 24.. at 24 PSI it will pump in a higher pressure amount.

Some Buicks will already have a 3 bar in place in the case they have an aftermarket computer like a FAST, BS3, Accell, etc. In those cases all you do is splice into the 3 bar signal wire. And no reason to buy another sensor with the kit.

Julio,
Any warranty on those MAP sensors? Mine took a **** today throwing a code 34...any ideas what causes them to just go bad...especially when it's not that old???

Code 34 is "Low MAF signal".
ECM knows nothing about the MAP.

WORD! I'd like tell you all about it but I'd have to cut your tounge out if I did.

Actually code 34 is both MAF and MAP reference...turns out the MAP is g-t-g and the MAF had some issues that I fixed...runs like a top again!
