As some may remember--Rick from GMHTP mag was looking for a GNX to run for an article they were doing for their 10th anniv.

The coolest GM cars from the past 20 years or so.

Well --i just got back from the event a bit ago--and i have to say it was pretty fun.

I will post some pics and updates a bit later because i am VERY tired right now.

The GNX ran very well !!!

Cars in attend. were----GNX,lt-4 firehawk,z-06,zr-1,call. TT corvette, 2 TTA's,syclone,4 typhoons, 5 ram-air TA's,Rick's 05 gto,SLP's 05 gto.

Look for this article in about 3-5 weeks in GMHTP---the GNX will be front and center on the group pic.

I am headed for a nap----1300 miles has taken its toll---i will post some updates, pics, and times soon

Geoff

Nice meeting you Geoff, wish my TTA's ran better than they did but it was fun anyway. Cool group of cars thats for sure :)

Steve

Steve,
great to meet you also.I know you wish the tta's ran better, but my jaw dropped when i heard you brought not one,but two tta's to the event. That was cool  My boo-boo is at the shop right now getting ready to get fixed--i hope you get yours works out ok also :frown:

Daniel,
I spent all afternoon yesterday cleaning EVERYTHING--truck,trailer and car---so you know it was a long day.

Sorry i haven't given an update to the original post but i have been very busy since we got back.I am still working on getting the pics ready.In-fact if someone can host a few 15 second videos--that would be great---just let me know

Below i will list the times of the fastest passes of the day to the best of my memory(Daniel and Steve--please correct me if i am wrong on these).I will give a range on the cars that there were multiples of(typhoons,ram-air ls1 ta's).

1) 03 z-06 12.09@114 Dude was drivin the wheels off this car(1.80 60' on stock tires with the ONLY addition being a cold air set-up)

2) 90 zr-1 13.21@108 most passes were in the mid-to-high 13's--very nice car----traction limited--on original tires

3) 87 call. tt corvette 13.26@107 very nice car, most passes in the 14.0 range--i expected mid 12's out of this car--just didn't sound right

4) 87 gnx 13.32@103 I will admit this is the first time i have worn a helmet, and first launch of the gnx.It launches 100% different than my GN and took me a bit to get used to--i may have left a .1 or .2 on the 60'--but overall i was thrilled to be within a .1 of a zr-1 and tt call. corvette!!

5) 89 tta 13.71-14.1's -----Steve--like i said---bringing 2 was awesome----i have some videos of the runs----you were driving the piss out of them on the videos

6) LS-1 ram-air ta's(there were 4 or 5 of these)---13.51-14.30's most passes were 13.80's to 14.1's all cars were 6 speeds

7) typhoons(4 or 5 again)---most passes were between 13.80 and 14.3.There was one with 5600 miles that the guy ripped off an impressive time--can't remember what it was---but all the other passes were within the above times.

8) syclone --to the best of my memory----he was 13.9 to 14.2 all day

9) lt-4 firehawk--14.5 @96----DON'T be mislead by this.It was VERY obvious this car was capable of mid 13's or better--and i 100% agree with Daniel for not beating on this 1 of 29 impeccable 800 mile total lt-4 firehawk. This was THE nicest car in attendance--it was very obvious!!!
Daniel--if you want a low 13 second time slip---turn your back and let me know  --Folks---this car is NICE----i would still pound it though :D :D
The humidity and heat were VERY bad for all the turbo cars
If my memory is not accurate---i am sorry--but i am very close

Pick up the magazine and see what they have to say-------there will be some great pics----i promise you that

I will try to post some pics of the event soon

Geoff

Was this a private track rental just for the magazine?

I wish I would have known about this shootout. I would have definately attended to see all of the favorite cars/trucks from my era dukeing it out.

Great job on representing the Buick Boys on this board!! :D

huge thumbs up!

awesome time with the gnx! That is damn close to the times they got in the magazines, with drivers that had plenty of seat time. Way to represent our cars and lay the smackdown on some LS1's in the process :p . You just helped further the legend...

Hey guys, nice to meet yas on Monday
I'm Chris with the 93 Black Typhoon with 5600 miles. That was me with the best run of the day for our trucks. It was a 13.4, details in my sig which is great for one our trucks all stock. I have some pics up here in my gallery with pics of everyones cars : http://www.northeastsyty.com/gallery/view_album.php?set_albumName=GMHTP-Shootout

ps: Notplayn/Daniel are you the one with the 800 mile hawk?
If so can you get me some nfo on the Haulmark trailer you had at the track. What model was it? and it looked like a 20 footer can you double check for me. Maybe the contact info for the guy that was sellin it. I'm lookin to get one...

Yeah mine is going in the shop too :frown: , but first I'm taking my other car back to the track Sat 8/20. I think the valvesprings might be worn and the new set I ordered came today. 13.71@97 w/2.01 60ft was my best but was 3 mph slower than my previous best with this car(13.68@100, 2.10 60ft). I was really hoping to be within a tenth or so of your car, which ran great and was impressive to watch. Still though a fun day even with the bad way it started out for both of us

Chris nice meeting you too, and for those who dont look through his pics I think this one sums it up pretty well :D Nice pics

Awesome times guys, i bet that was great fun ringin all those stock cars out. Were there no 05 GTOs running? I was kinda hoping to see some decent times out of them, the ls1gto board seems to be full of rookie drivers that are happy with 13.8s at 101 our of 400 hp (no offense if thats anybody on the board) Anyways all the cars seemed to run well. Are the times presented as is? or corrected for density?

Geoff, Steve or Chris do you remember if there was a stock gto there? I stopped looking at the gtos when I saw the SLP gto test car. It had a 455 decked out with headers and other goodes

Chris I will get you the info on the trailer tomorrow. That why you can call my friend Howard and tell him exactly what you are looking for.

Rick was driving a Red GTO that was stock I believe, the other black one was running a vortech supercharger and the 455 you mentioned.
Thanks for getting the info on the trailer for me.
BTW guys check your email, I just got Ricks email requesting the additional info

Hey Chris,

The trailer is a 20 foot Haulmark Thrifty Hauler. It towed PERFECTLY behind my truck, no problems. You can call my friend Howard (he is the owner) at HGR's truck and trailers. We have been good friends since high school. He will make you a good deal and delivery is available, for a charge. His number is 1-800-230-8920. I told him you may call.
