GM Posi Oil supplement with Trans Fluid ??

Anybody heard of mixing in a couple of bottles of GM posi oil supplement with trans fluid ? Good , bad ?

I haven't heard of it going into the trans, but it sounds like the mix we used in diffrentials at GM all the time. Anyone help a brotha out here? I would wait until you hear from some of the big guys here before doing it myself. For whatever what I think counts for that is.

hmmm, I think it would be a bad thing. The limited slip additive (if thats what you are refering to) helps the clutches slide pass each other to keep chattering down. I think this will effect the clutches in allowing them to slip more.

Just my thought, I never done it either, but then I wouldn't try it.

I just came across some info that someone suggested doing this . does the supplement not help the clutches in the rear end grab better rather than "letting the clutches slide pass each other" ?

I have never heard of doing this. I occasionally will add a qt of motor oil to one, but I have never heard of posi additive.
Just my experiance.

Posi oil

We used this in the first 440T4 trans. It helped with TCC shudder. The down side of this was it affected the linning on the clutch and we didnt use it anymore.Then we got in to the age of PWM for TCC apply and tcc shudder is a thing of the past.A rear end clutch is not made of a paper linning, it is a friction knurled type of plate.

Don't do it!

If you've ever worked on a rear end with that stuff in it you would know that it is the most tenacious oil ever created.

It was intended for posi rears that ran nitride-treated (like Kolene) steel-to-steel clutch packs. That additive is no longer needed if you use a name-brand synthetic (why would you use anything else?) in a posi that originally required the additive.

All the mental effort that goes into this never-ending fascination with adding things to ATF would be better spent on mechanical enhancements to the 2004R. The major car manufacturers spent millions on what ultimately became the ATFs recommended for use.

As a Ford tranny tech, friction modifier is my best friend. Use it in lots of different trannies with no ill effects as of yet! We use directional fibers in several of our trannies and they will chatter if incorrectly assembled at the factory. Friction modifier will cure this just fine. I hate still hate the way the new boxes shift, but the stuff helps.

that was what i said .and it works great .it will also firm up shifts in a good working transmission,free up stuck valves and help with torque convertor lock up problems.i use the ford stuff in every rebuild.no real life test data or graphs ,but it has become a winner here.it does STINK though.

ford positraction additive.i use 2 small bottles .i think they are 6 ozs.

Chris, ever pulled a trans apart that used the additive on a regular bases ? any sign of high wear or anything out of the ordinary ?
