Anyone here have any problems with them? I ordered an accumulator for power-disaster on 12/20 and still haven't seen the part nor have they put the tracking number up...

I've ordered parts form them before and if I remember right it normally takes them a little bit to ship. I would contact them though and ask them about what is taking so long. I stopped ordering from them after I noticed that they may make the parts cheaper but they try to make up for it in the shipping and handling fees.

FWIW & IMHO:
I hate being the bearer of bad tidings, but right about the same time that you say that you ordered the accumulator ball, someone posted on either tb or tbs that the accumulator ball was no longer listed on GM Parts Direct. This was posted about the same time frame as your order date. It seems to me that I took the GM part no for the last/newest update on the accumulator ball and entered it on GM parts Direct, and the search came back advising no results under that part no were found. I have never heard of GM ts Direct flatly ripping someone off, so I would think that they will reimburse your money/check/ or cedit card account,if that is the case. If all else fails, Kirbans Performance shows them at $ 150. Sounds like another GN/GNX/T-Type/Turbo-T part biting the dust shortly. They could just be awaiting a shipment, also.

I can tell you why they do not have them. Dennis Kirban just said in one of his recent newsletters that he bought all the remaining stock. So, if you need one he is the man to see. ;)

I have used them before and have never had a problem with them. I just have it in my mind that I wont get the part for a month, that way when it shows up three weeks later I am happy. :)

Thats pretty ****ed up if he is charging $150 for them and the price that gmpartsdirect.com had was a lot less.

Let's see... $150 for bowl.. $125 for kit from you know who on the board... bowl.. car might stop.. vaccum.. car will always stop.. In a normal world those things will rot on Kirbans shelf! I'm sure GM was happy Dennis bought them all. :) I know you guys like to keep the car original and stock but I'd rather take that Powercrap off and put the vaccum on because when your going to a show and crash into something because your brakes fail with no warning you can't take the car to the show any more! :p ;) :D

Accumulators

This may not help but then again....
A couple years ago a fellow I know opened the hood of his Chrysler minvan to show something, radiator cap i think. Anyhow just as he was slamming the hood down I noticed on the driver side a black sphere with a yellow label on it similar to what I have seen in pictures of 86/87 engine bays. It was in the area that the brake pedal should be so maybe its a similar part? My car is an 85 so I cannot be certain that the part you are looking for is the same but it might be worth checking to see if Chrysler stocks a compatible part for your powermaster systems?

I got a response from their customer service department.

The part is on backorder if you do not want to wait for the part emailus and we can cancel the order gm does not have a eta on when the part wil ship out to us.

Thank You www.GmPartsDirect.com

And yes, that is the exact message I got from them, with those spelling and grammer errors, I would expect something a little more professional from a business. But, what can you do. Anyone want me to borrow an accumulator? lol. I wanted to get my car running by Friday so I can drive to school... but apparently thats not happening.

Well, GM emailed me back saying that they cancelled my order due to having no stock. I guess that means I am going over to vacuum brakes. I looked at Kirban's site but couldn't find the accumulator on there, not that I planned on getting it for $150 when GM was selling it for a thrid the price. Thats really ****ed up if Kirban did buy up the whole stock and is selling it for about 70% more.

The Powermaster Brake bowls we were selling on our website were not bought from Ac Delco, they were bought through another company thats why they were $150. Those accum. bowls were the updated version with the yellow writing. When they went disc. in late November we bought the remaining BLACK original brake bowls directly from Ac Delco. They were sold MUCH cheaper...I think $79........The Powermaster is a very good system.....the problem is no one knows how to work on them or troubleshoot problems. The brake fluid MUST be changed twice a year no matter how many miles the car is driven. The dirty fluid eats away at the accum. bowl, the brake switch and the internal o rings and then you start having problems. Look at any Turbo Regal, including mint GNX's and the fluid is BLACK!!! Change that brake fluid and they will work for years.

Pete, the all black unit is the one I tryed getting from them. Gmpartsdriect was only charging $36 bucks for them and like $7 for shipping. The total ended up being $44.02

Part #18038506 - The all black orgional one... says that the list price was $72 but their price is $36

Part #18038507 - The 'updated' one with yellow writing. Says no longer available

Guess you guys are going to make a hell of a lot of money off of this.

Just got off the phone with GMTRACS, a dealer-network system we use for availability, etc and here's what the GM computer told me:
18038506: "a ship direct part. No stock is available at this time. The scheduled delivery date is Jan 16"

18038507: "a ship-direct part. Source has stock available."

Either try again after the 16th or pm/e-mail me to remind me to check GM again. But th elong and the short of it is they are still being produced.

They keep pushing the delivery date back...the first ship date was the end of December, the next one was Jan 6 and know its the 16th...hopefully they will come through on Monday....if you can get one from GMParts Direct for $44 shipped thats great, but that may be an old price because we paid quite a bit more from AC Delco.

again, if somebody wants to pm or e-mail me next week to remind me I'll re-check and post the status.

In my experience with GMPD, they charge an arm and a leg for shipping, the smaller the part you get, the more the shipping price. I bought the TB gasket, it didnt say there was a minimum required, so they MADE me buy 10 or so of them and I had to pay $8 shipping on something that weighed less than 1 lb. And there was a couople other incident s I had with them, took 2-3 weeks to get another part I ordered, I didnt save any $$ on it and could have gotten it from the dealer in 24 hrs, never again for me.......
