I know this is a older thread and I hope all the guys are still subscribed to it so they see this update. Good news is I found the .pdf file I had made that you can take to your local Graphics place to either have the decal or the stencil made. File is attached, and your welcome! :)

The pdf looks pretty good. Thanks for sharing Venus.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. One thing I did to my old hood pad was paint it flat black with HI temp paint.

No issues at all, so I will try this.

Also, I have a extra brand new Hood pad, without the logo. Anyone interested, let me know. $175.00

I don't want to really ship, its a pain in the @SS. Local commute is way better. Chicago Area.

Thanks.
What part of CHICAGO are you in?

I have a NOS pad I bought several years ago that I might sell. Make offer.
Shipping will be horrible $ but I will deliver to the GSCA Nationals in Bowling Green.
Send e mail to markg1@scrtc.com. Thanks.

If you take it to a graphics place like I did and have them print it out or make a stencil with it. It looks EXACTLY like the factories. I used the pdf file for the hood pad I took pictures of in this thread.

The letter C is not the original font.

I went to a local graphics and screen print business today. I brought the PDF (printed copy, thanks Venus) and the gentleman (been is business for 31 years) looked at the original pad. The original graphic is a high heat adhesive vinyl that was likely heat pressed on. He knows where he can get the same material. The silver/gray color is what the base color is before there is color added. Reproducing this is not a problem with the right material. Measurements of the words and turbo 6 emblem were taken. Once it is made he will heat press it on with a type of industrial iron if you will. I should know more on Monday. My local dealer quoted me $197 and approximately 3 days for the hood pad to arrive when ordered.

VERY NICE work Mattthias!

You have confirmed a lot. The info that is especially encouraging is:
  1. The ability of the local graphics pro to heat press the vinyl stencil to the hood pad.
  2. The cost of a plain contoured hood pad from GM dealer (I assume) is the lowest I know of. All three estimates I have @ GM Buick dealers were $263+T (that includes a guy who claims his estimate is an employee price?).
Anyway this is great news at this point. It would be great to hear a good result about our TR parts or process that makes them more available without big increase in price. I've stenciled/painted a completely custom hood pad from scratch using a generic Metro pad. It turned out great but I would have been easily convinced to spend my geetu$ this way - For what I believe is as close to the real deal for real world money as you can get.

Staying tuned right here. Thanks again!

Glad to see the Pdf and this thread is helping. Can't wait to see how this pans out and helps others instead of paying with your first born to get a NOS one. Hopefully GM continues to sell the 8 hole pad, if that ever is discontinued then we are screwed lol.

No problem! :) I really don't want to spend over $500 on the hood pad either! I hope to get the phone call from the print shop tomorrow on the price.

On the hood pads itself, the $263 is the retail price I was quoted but the parts manager said he would do it at wholesale. Seems like they all have different pricing which makes absolutely no sense unless the dealer is allowed to adjust the price. Best part of the deal is there is not a shipping charge as we all know can be expensive. :jawdrop:

$169 (for the pad) + $133.80 (Shipping & Processing & Handling) = $302.80
I will stick with the dealer at $197.46 + tax only - $213.26 total
