I don't think the prices are too high considering one is supposed to be a GNX #248 out of 547 and the other is an 87 GN with 316 original miles.

Yup, those are the last two for sale. After that, no more are available.......

^^^^ What OmahaKnight said.^^^^

The 316 mile GN is mine. 6 weeks ago it did $1400 more so maybe the markets has softened up a bit. I had a lot of emails but nothing materialized. My GN was discussed pretty thoroughly on the following thread:
http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/showthread.php?threadid=90977

Hopefully this thread does not turn into another bashing session. I intentionally did not list the car on this site because of the negative comments made by a few immature individuals but other people keep posting a link to it so I figured I would respond with the link to the last bashing session to save everyone the time.

GNXs in particular and GNs in general are "collecter" cars. Such cars require you to find the right buyer. All because one month nobody bidding...doesn't mean the next month they wont. Any car is worth what a prospective buyer is willing to pay for it...nothing more. The challenge is to find the right buyer.

Hummm, active bidding record there. I wonder if the smog in L.A. is more harsh this year. lol

And thats why they didn't sell then?

thats the point, a 3900 mi GNX with no takers, Ive seen 50-60K for these cars, and bids of 17k for a GN with 6100 miles, but no takers on a 316 miler:confused:

I think these type of cars are like that in general, seems like theres always groups of people trying to sell with no luck, and groups of people trying to buy with no luck...

I know when I was shopping for parts it seemed like I would never find the right stuff, then all of a sudden I found a whole bunch of guys who had been sitting on them looking for buyers.

Guy's,

The bottom line on selling anything is that it's only "worth" what someone will pay for it. If things don't sell they are overpriced. What might have been fair market value last year isn't this year. Next year might be a better time to sell or not. It's all relative. Collector cars are luxury items (ie: you don't have to own them) so once the economy softens up these are usually some of the first things to go up for sale.

Just an observation

NOT TO MIX APPLES & ORANGES

But My Mom just sold a 1 bedroom condo after waiting 6 months.
She was steadfast at wanting $154k an offer came in for $145
in 1st month... BUT GREEDY MOM wanted more.. Just sold 5 months latter $146k was it worth it to wait 5 more months for 1k?

Most items for sale will seek the correct level. A lot of expendable wealth has been lost the past few years.

I have seen the 316 mile GN it is a nice car.

Another problem could be the charges to ship cars that are bought long distance may come into play.

I don't think they're that high. If I had the money to burn i'd burn it on one of those two cars before i would burn it on a 60's or 70's muscle car. Just my opinion.

It's interesting to me that this same discussion occurs on the Vette C2 board(63-67 Stingray's), and even on the LS1 Camaro/Firebird board.

32k for an 87 GN, one of 20k built, does seem high when you can get, for roughly the same price, a 63 or 64 Stingray Vette, one of 2k or so built in each year.

But, that's just my opinion. I agree, price is dependent upon what any buyer is willing to pay.

*jumping on the bandwagon*

I agree with what most are saying. I don't find the prices too high at all. If I had the money, I would by one or both of these cars. I hope they sell for what the owners want. I wouldn't expect anything less if I owned one of these fine automobiles.
Then again, I would drive the tires off too. And that would probable upset most people here.
I love my 86,000 mile GN to death. But to own, AND DRIVE a virtually new GN or GNX would be the greatest pleasure I could think of. Well, I could think of a couple more. :D

In 1963 and in 1964 there were over 20,000 Corvettes produced each year. Now some of the rarer optioned Corvettes bring extrememly high prices. Also remember some of these early 60's Corvettes had only had 250 gross hp. Its hard to compare the Regal market to the Corvette market.

It sure is all about what someone will pay for it!

Motroman....The $32000 car was a GNX, not a GN, and I wish I had the money, cuz I'd jump on it.

Rag, you're correct, however, there would be a long and spirited discussion about which vehicle is currently or ultimately more valuable.

I like all my cars a lot, and enjoy driving the GN just as much as the Vette. But, from strictly a collector's standpoint, I think in the years and decades to come, my 63 Vette may be worth a lot more.

Quik,..you're right,..although I have seen stock GN's for sale at that price,.low mileage,.but still stock.

And me too.... that's to drive them not look at them! Just think of all the money some people could save starting over again. Knowing now what they did'nt know back then. Alhky anyone!!:)
I'd leave the GNX stock though.
I've seen GTO's,CHARGERS,CHEVELLES,GSX's for that high of price and would'nt buy.And i'm not talking about (YENKO'S,HEMIS) and other special order stuff either.
The GN was on a 30 year old frame when new but handled better than cars of the 60's-70's with that same frame.
Remember also that GN was probably 18k new so the 5k mark up is not bad.The GNX was listed at 28k so 4k more for that is nothing for 1 of 547.Jeez! Kirbans rear suspension is a grand.
Is'nt there someone out there that will give me some jing!

P.s. I won't drive it in the snow or salt.:D

I put my 11K mile GN on EBay a few months ago and it did $17,500. it didn't sell cuz my reserve was $18K. I put it on last week and the auction just ended yesterday. It only did $15,100 this time around and I even lowered my reserve to $17K this time.

I think the economy is having a big effect on people right now. Next year my car may do $18,500. Kirban recently sold an 11K mile for $20K and mine only did $15,100? It is all a big guessing game. If my car did sell I would really consider that GNX for $32K that is cheap! I can't believe nobody has bid on it.
