OK - looks like there is enough interest. I don't want to do just the plates as it all has to modified a certain way to make it look right and I don't want to be responsible for anyone hacking up their dash! I can offer these one of two ways. PM me if you want prices.

Complete DIY Kit
Custom Mounting Plate
Modified Core Support
Modified Trim Bezel
Hardware

Complete Assembled Dash (You Supply the Gauges)
Custom Mounting Plate
Modified Core Support
Modified Trim Bezel
Turn, High Beam, SES, Brake LEDs
Custom Wiring Harness (not plug & play - you will have to do some wiring!)
New VSS and Interface

You may be right about the GNX dash going over $1000, for some options. But it already has either six or eight gauges, includes all the stock idiot lights, including the high beam light required by law, it is prewired, "plug and play", and includes a new glass and bezel. Seems like it's in the same ballpark, anyway. But yours looks good, too.

Those gauge panels look good and am glad people offer their services to others.

I pondered on the thought of doing one like yours myself except with Cobalt gauges. The price of the Cobalt gauge were way too much for all the ones I wanted so I went with a digital dash from Dakota Digital. I did have to modify and re-wire like any custom gauge set-up but in the end it fit nicely and I got to keep all of my idiot lights. This is nice just in case I'm not looking at my gauges all the time. Plus, as a added feature the Dakota Digital gauges offers high speed recall, high RPM recall, 1/4 mile times and speed, trip meter's with service intervals too. You can also program the gauges to flash at a set high temp, low oil pressure or low fuel so it will warn you when it get's out of a certain "window" on operation. This could be another option for those that like a digital set-up.

Dakota Digital may make you a gauge set-up for your car if you don't want to do it yourself. I know they make one for the Monte Carlo SS and the Cutlass Supreme.

I know it's been almost 2 yrs since you offered the dash kits but I am new to the site and just saw your work. I like it and want to do mine. I sent you a pm and haven't gotten a reply. Please let me know your prices. I am more interested in the DIY kit..Thanks so much, rwg7686@yahoo.com

Replyed to you PM. Back when I posted this, most of the people who did show interest seemed to want "something for nothing" so I just ended up doing 2 of the dashes for myself- one for my street car shown in the posts and one in my race car. For whatever reason, several people have contacted me about this in the last month or so..........................

For whatever reason, several people have contacted me about this in the last month or so.

One reason is the GNX DASH/PERFORMANCE INSTRUMENTS "company"

came to a dishonorable ending and vanished w/o a trace.

Another reason is the only GNX-style dash available is the one from Poston.

Forums are weird sometimes. On the one hand, you've got the

something-for-nothing clan you mentioned, and on the other

extreme you've got the blind or mesmerized group eager to buy

"mythical magical must-have" products with no hesitation.

When I get to the dash stage, I want to do a dash similar to the Dakota dash above, but with the round LED gauges, ala the old Cyberdyne. I want to do it not because I think it looks the best, but that it would be time period correct and I think it looks pretty cool. But I would need a boost guage that goes to 30#'s. Does anyone know if any company still makes those kind of gauges for our cars?

Good Morning, I appreciate your reply. What you said about something for nothing is so true. If a person has a GN he will already know there are lots of gadgets and and they are never free. I am 62 and retired this year. Most of my time is working on my '86. I hope to hear good news from Bent6 but I do plan to build a guage panel on his design if I don't. The guages alone will run approx. $420.00. I did look at Cyberdyne($630) They would look good. Also the bolt in Dakota Digital($800) is an easy way, and looks great..

Just out of curiosity - what happened to him? I talked to the guy once about doing a dash like mine - seemed like a pretty nice guy but didn't seem interested so I just ended up doing it myself.

1st time I read something like that...

I was gonna ask the same thing...what dishonorable ending do u mean ? I sent him the guages (9) upfront, when he was done I sent him the money & he sent me the guages. The transaction was good for me...

The layout looks really good and I was planning to build one unless of course someone already had one. I was working to buy a one from Tom before he closed shop, but I prefer the layout you have with different gauges - just personal preference there. Let us know when they are available!

Well, if I can't get a mounting panel within a couple of weeks, I plan to go ahead with it on my own. That's where every project starts anyway. I saw some very heavy textured grey shelving(easier to cut) at Lowes. One shelf will make 3 to 4 panels and I would still have a shelving unit for my garage. If nothing else, Brent6's great looking panel is an excellent model to go by..The dash from Poston Buick looks great($695)but still requires cutting. This may already be known by most but if you are contemplating guages, go to eguages.com for comparison shopping. I have looked at most places for selection and pricing and this site has most any guage and as good a price as i have found. You can buy the kit which has all necessary senders and then add the boost guage and the tach. I like the VDO Vision series because of the thru dial lighting and the price for all I need($421.83)+ shipping...

I like it. The lay out looks good. Let us no the price. I wood be interested.

Thanks for the quick reply. I will post progress and suggestions as I go. I would also appreciate suggestions. I will go to the Moultry Ga. swap meet the 1st weekend in Feb. to look for parts, connectors, guages, etc..Then I hope to get started. I bought a woodgrain bezel off of ebay to cut 1st. No need to ruin a GN bezel on my 1st try. I know I can do it but I also know I don't want to hack up my dash as Bent6 noted..

bent6,

another interested buick owner. my build is trundling along at a steady
but slow pace. have always considered a gnx dash replacement, but i agree that
your design is more appealing to me. if your posting is to determnine interest
level, please count me in.

Thanks,
DGC
