pics pics pics! i love lightning rods my best friend has them in his 83 hurst olds.he showed me how they work and i think that they are the coolest things! if u dont mind how hard was it and costly! let me no thxs greg...gnx guages are the best also!!

bishir is helping with pics !!!

lightning rods ,the install very simple
i had all the linkage and brackets from hurst olds.
i modified gn console to fit them and had buick from hell
design the shifter plate.

all for looks no performance gains .
the expense was alot !!!!!!!!!!!!!

they almost look as good as my new mease 24 row !!:D

Pics looked great. I had to resize them though because I didn't have room for them all. I've always loved the GNX dash, but the lightning rods look awesome!!!! I'd love to do that too!

So, what was the cost of the lightning rods and plate? Does it give a performance advantage too? How do they work exactly?

they are factory shifters in 83-84 hurst olds or after market shifters from hurst.

new mease 24 row streetch;)

Very nice install dude!

Lightning rods are really cosmetic in an OE type application. They give the "Lenco look" which I think is sharp as hell. I guess in a full manual valve body they'd be really nice

Have yours jammed yet? I only used them once in a customers car and I forget the scenario, but they jammed.

Friend of mine, Dan McCann has them in his HurstGN.....I remember him telling me he spent big $ having them rebuilt. Did you do the same?

no,
i got very lucky and got mine out of a very low mile car.
there in great shape.

my opion on the lightning rods are,i think that they are basicly a stick wit out the clutch when u want them to be.u can leave it in drive or just have fun! basicly like an auto stick in todays car.let the gears go longer! waiting for 88 cutty to cut in he know more than me! lata greg

yeah, basically its a way to have fun with your automatic without over shifting, If you like to be firm when you shift this is the shifter. When i shift my MCSS i usunally end up blowing past OD in into neutral, on the L-rods, thats impossible, When Mr Gasket Co was still rebuilding them it was about 90 bucks, i know a guy on Oldspower that rebuilds them. I heard horror stories about people breaking them and what not but, i've had no problem with them in my Hurst. But just incase i will hold onto my extra set.

Hey,III'S 87 GN

Your dash looks a lot like mine.I have the same set up.Someday I might replace the gauges with something else but for now I can live with it.

Here's a pic of mine

where did you two get your gauges? They look very nice and now.....of course......I want some too..

Did you consider any other gauges before installing these? If so, from where?
