O.K. I'm getting my 87 GN painted and I'm going with some GNX fender flares. Which are the best, there are ones on E-bay for around $195

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=42611&item=2476084105&rd=1

and poston has sets for $329

Does anyone else make them? If not which of these should I get?

Also which fender vents, E-bay's, or poston's?

Question #2: People using alcohol, has anyone ever tried to somehow supercool the alcohol before a run like keeping it in an icebox then pouring it in right before staging? If so, are there any gains?

Thanks,
Evan Ward

Cooling your alcohol is of little value. The thermal mass of the fine spray going in is negligible - the heat from the air and surrounding material will quickly eliminate any temperature advantage. It's the evaporation which gives you the temperature advantage, then some amount of fuel value benefit comes from the alcohol itself.

Whoa, wrong type of alcohol that I was thinking about;)

The flares from Postons seem to have fit a friends car pretty well with little modification (Sanding seam between car and flare). The eBay flares are the ones that I bough, did very little prep to them (lacquer primer and a quick sand) they came out pretty well, they included the "welt" that goes between the flare and the car, but with the desert heat, the glue that holds that welt to the flare seems to seep a little bit, I would do the flares on ebay without the welt, and just sand the seam to make them fit without using the welt.

I got the ones from postons and had the worst time ever trying to get a good fit. They don't seem to fit the wheel opening well (still) and I wasn't able to get the flares to cover the original "flare" of the fenders on one rear and one front....I had to force it up and on with a ton of pressure....got it to stay, but it is trying to pull away.

I don't know, I think they could look better if they fit better....and it wouldn't be a hard install if they did!

They are pretty stiff too, so don't think you'll be able to "bend" them where you want them to go.....doesn't happen!
