I have seen a few posts about gauge problems lately and just for everyones info Tom Houser seems to have a new website going.
www.gnxdash.com I have 1 of his 8 gauge package dashes and it is a high quality piece. A direct fit and very simple. Ideal for anyone who has not invested in a bunch of gauges yet. I still have the stock dash and could probably reinstall it in about 2 hours should i ever have the need. Doubt I ever will want to. A little pricey but it really looks like it belongs there!! No need to have stuff hanging on a pillars or under the radio etc..... Everything is right in front of you.
I have an electronic speedo,tach,volts,oil pressure,water temp,fuel level,boost, and a caspers knock gauge.
Everything works great And looks great too!

And if you have already invested in gauges, "Option 6B" allows you to use your existing gauges.

Man, that's a trick setup.

Just when I thougth I was done with mods for this season - I guess it's back to the bank to make a withdrawl.

Those look sweet!

I didn't see a price for option 6B, do you know how much? I have some gauges and I would hate to waste them.

I purchased mine about a year ago. It was the first thing I bought for my car. Back then it was performance instruments.com
Looks like he has changed a few things. I am sure 1 thing has not changed. The quality. Hope this helps some of you guys out there that are looking for a piece like this.

Tom

Thanks for the "Shout Out"

Hey Tom.. Thanks for the great testamonial!!;) We are really proud of the new site, my wife Loura did it all herself. We are planning on attending Buicks at Bristol and the West Coast Nats in Vegas this year so if ya want a close up view of the Dashes come check it out. Dean, I'll be at Sac. Raceway tomorrow so maybe you can check out the dash in my car then. You'll also get to see the new shifter handle set-up w/ the built in activation switch. At performance Instruments we will do whatever is necessary to make sure you're completely satisfied with your new dash. Option 6B makes it a lot more affordable for guys that have already invested in high dollar gauges. We've even worked out deals for different customers to sell the gauges they have to upgrade into a nicer dash set-up. Bottom line is you get what you pay for and building a dash that never existed before isn't cheap. But then again blowing up a motor because you don't hve any idea what's going on under the hood isn't cheap either. So.. thanks again to Tom Chapman and all the other satisfied Performance Instruments customers and keep spreading the word!

Sounds good. If you go straight in past the staging lanes, just on the other side of the hill as you enter the main pits, there is a structure on your left. We usually set up on the pit (east) side of that structure. We'll have a BBQ going, so if you don't want to eat track food, bring something to toss on the grill!

One of the guys who will be there, Mark E., has one of you dashes and it looks great. And someone just today was admiring your shifter on the website (I sent out the link again to our Club e-mail list). One question: is that a momentary switch?

:-Dean

Shifter handle w/ button

Dean..

I'll be there for sure, just put my back up alternator on cause my chromie died. The button in the handle is momentary but I suppose if I could find a on/off switch that's small enough I could build one that way also. All my stuff is hand built so the customer gets what he wants! See ya tomorrow night!

Do those things work with the digital dash setup?

Might be worth buying for the GN. Needs some gauges and I don't want to cut it up. :)

Does it work with the stock digital dash?

Does it work with the stock digital dash setup... ABSOLUTLY!
We build for both the analog or digital factory wiring. Check the website for all the details...it's all there with pics and everything.

Tom :D

How difficult is the installation? I would love to get this dash!

Has anyone here done the install? How did it go?

Thanks

How difficult is the installation??

If you have AVERAGE mechanical skills and can read and follow instructions it takes about 4 hours. The package comes with very detailed instructions and photos. We're thinking about doing an installation video... maybe when things slow down. One thing I can PROMISE is that if you run into a snag or have a question during the install we are always available to help. I had a customer call me eight times today and I walked him right through the install. He had a bad VSS buffer that was causing him some problems so I sent him a spare I had lying around. How's that for customer service! There are some companies with Big reputations that never answer their phones when ya need them. That Doesn't happen at Performance Instruments!!
