What would be more efficient or provide more of a performance gain, a stock GNX intercooler or a stock GN intercooler with the bigger neck installed?

Matt

good question....
The tanks are the same, just a different core(more fins per inch, etc).
The Dutt neck on the GNX IC would be best.

The GNX and the TTA are the same IC. I have read reports of TTA guys swapping to a GN IC w/ dutt. neck and getting more psi than stock TTA IC.

hehe! good answer;) :D

Stock GN intercooler with our superneck (3") would be the best mod:cool:

You will pick up more in the neck than you will with the GNX intercooler period, you will actually gain pressure loss across the core with the GNX or TTA intercooler because those intercoolers have more restriction inside, but slightly greater cooling efficiency...Apparently the GM engineers that designed the GNX intercooler should have just added another 10 rows to it;) instead like always they took the cheap way out and simply made a phone call to Garrett/Airresearch and had them stick a few more FPI in there:D

Keith,
This might be a dumb question, but where would one purchase a Mease superneck? And what's the price?
Thanks,
Terry

3" neck mod

Nick Micale has 4 or 5 of the superneck intercoolers with the 3" neck on them,But they're 15 row units- they pick up bigtime 6-7 tenths on a 12.0 car with proper fuel control....if you're not looking to pick up but only a few tenths, Check this out....Some redneck on Ebay is selling one right now;) :D

If you need better pics, I am going to post another auction with better pics in it, and more closeups...so check out our other auctions within the next few days.

to those are mease performance, check your website, i cannot get to it at all, it keeps coming up with a different site not even related to turbo buicks performance parts, and i have tried 3 different browsers all with same results..

thanks

Keith makes some nice stuff too guys. Im installing one of his dp's on a friends car thursday in fact.. Work of art.. :)

If you want to spend some money, then the real answer is a Cotton's Front Mount. One you get the stock stuff out of the way, it's like a 1 hour install. Then you'll never again have to worry about updating.

Damn front mount guys....how many times do we have to prove you wrong:D :D :D J/K;)

+ with a front mount in 95 degree temps with the ac on.. you got problems in traffic:) Not us stock mounters

Only if you don't have the cooling system right to begin with.

Once you get the MATs within reason, you don't have to rely on a 160dF to try and drop them. Or need the extra fuel that running that cool adds.

MATs = Actual plenum temp., not IAC temps.

Dutt neck on the GNX intercooler would be the better option, but how much better is the relative question.

By the time you buy a GNX/TTA IC and then modify it toy will be close to the price of the PTE stock location IC, which has a superior core design and will no doubt perform much better.

I considered the same thing as you to keep things looking stock, but the PTE does that and performs better.

So do we all agree that a STOCK GN intercooler with a Dutt. neck is better than a STOCK GNX/TTA intercooler???

Matt

absolutely
