Why dont you open the Translator box and see if your settings are correct.
Dip switch #1 should be ON (6cyl)
Dip switch #2 should be ON (ECM style=old)
Dip switch #3 should be ON (if your not using a extender chip)
Dip switch #4 should be off (unless youve got a extender extreme chip)

There are also two dials in there marked BASE and WOT. The explanation for these settings (which include setting for the correct size MAF; i.e. 3" or 3.5") will be on the underside of the lid for the translator box.

It is quite possible that one of these settings are not right and causing your problem. Ive seen it happen before, on more than one occasion.
Seems to me that keeping it simple would be to just open up the box and fix the issue and be done with it. I too didnt want the writing of the Translator box showing sooooo....................I turned the box over ;) . Dont really notice it now.
