Are internal mods needed requiring the pump cover to be removed?

I'm kinda thinking yes because the kit I received had a gasket for it in the kit but no instructions.

The trans was built as a non-lock up.

Thanks.

It depends on which non-lockup valve is used. I have an old pump that required the removal of the cup plug and tapping it out and installing a plug to hold the valve in place. My latest pump has the valve that has an upper sleeve, pin and the valve and no mods are used. Both are Gil Younger valves.

goiung to lockup requires installing the factory lockup valve and springs in the pump thru the oil pan.if you have a non lock up valve other than the transgo type you must dissasemble cthe pump and remove the set screw, then install a cup plug in its place and redrill it.better off to change the pump cover imo.also must install the oring on the turbine shaft and the ball check into the turbine shaft if it was removed although not necessary if you have a good convertor.

I got the trans from you built as a non lock up and later decided to go lockup and got the "kit" to make it lock up from you also.

I didn't see any cup plug in the kit.

Shaft o-ring, 2 springs, what I would call a shuttle valve, solenoid , pan gasket, pump cover gasket and large squareish o-ring.

Don't know if it has a trans go type in it or not?

I don't trust any trans shop in my area to mess with it.

They just say 200's are junk and I need a 400.

remove the non lock valve and see which type we installed.then you will know for sure.it should be the tgo style which is 3 pieces.if it is just install the other line up and an oring on the turbine shaft,

I'll have to take some after the weld wheels go back on.

The stockers with no center caps are a tad bit ugly.
