Good news / Bad news

New body mounts are in.
Unfortunately, after a short test drive the key is now stuck in the ignition and it will only start if I slam the shifter into Park.
Any ideas?

just need to go under the car and adjust the rod that comes down off the column and hooks up to the shifter linkage. I believe its 1/2" wrench and you loosen bolt and slide rod to column up a little bit. It may take a few times of trying it to get it right. you dont want to go too far or it will affect your reverse lights and neutral safety switch. I would move it about 1/4" and try it. the old mounts were sagging and the new ones threw the adjustment off a little,no big deal.

This is just a guess.
You probably have to adjust the shifter linkage a bit, but I don't know how that is done. Even though you have a floor shifter, the "collar" on the steering column still moves as if it has a column shifter. This is there so the key-lock mechanism will still work. You should be able to grab this collar and rotate it CCW to push it all the way to "park". I bet you'll need an extra hand to rotate the key while turning the collar with 2 hands.

Many thanks for the helpful reply, but something really cool just happened.
I drove it into the garage and snugged up the body mount bolts.
It starts, and the key comes out!
I'm so proud.
