ok for those that installed it with success where did you mount the meter n the car? Where did you drill a hole on the firewall? How did you route the cable from the probe to the firewall hole?

Yes i did read the instructions. Just want to know what your experiences are in installing it and some helpful tips before I go to install it. thanks

I just ran the wire through the factory rubber grommet by the master cylinder and then ran the wire all the way down my center console and came up through the ash tray....that way I can put the EGT in the center console...and when your done, un-plug it and put the wire in the ash tray. looks stock then ;)

Cutterturbo T, I think I'll do it your way, since I do want to hide the meter. Its pretty big too. so when you have it in the console and make a pass on the track, isn't it hard to keep your eye on the meter while keeping your eye on the road going down the track or do you just check the highest EGT after you made your run?

ya man, I just push the "max" button and go...it will show you your highest temp...you want it at about 1550-1600 deg. I just used it tonight on a run....love that thing..

did you have to drill a hole inside the console box so you can run the cable through?

Na I didn't have to drill a hole anywhere....I just ran the line under the centerconsole from the back...you can lift it up a little and run it under the console to the ash tray...take out your ash tray and pull the wire up then put the ash tray back into place make sure you have about a 1 foot of wire so you have room to move it around..it won't pinch the line off...it's tough...then I just plug it into the EGT and lay the EGT in the console box and leave the top up and run it....the wire will run from the ash tray to the box....when your done just unplug the wire, role it up and put it in the ash tray....then you can close console and hide the EGT. Hope that helps....

another question came to mind. I looked at the yellow cable with the male connector at one end and there are a yellow and red wires at the other end. I assume that end hooks up to the male(or was it female) connector and then to the EGT? I dont get it how it will hook up to the connector cuz when i looked at the bottom of the connector there was an orange grommet like thing in the middle and a small hole in the center:confused: Please explain how the red and yellow wire hooks up to the connector.

It comes with an extra connector....alll you need is the one that plugs into the clamp part and the one that goes into the EGT....then I just used boot conecters and wired the 2 open ends togather...it's all in the instructions..

and how did you run the cable from the egt probe connection? did you run it to the passenger side fender well then to the driver side grommet or did you run it to the front of the engine and then to the driver side grommet?

CutterturboT, I I'm going to be putting my SMC box in place of the ashtray. So now I won't be able to use the ashtray. What do you suggest I do?

I just did one and ran the wires on the pass side of the motor where the heater tubes are..drilled a small hole in the firewall at the crease under the heater box..kinda where the carpeting inside the car ends...there is a bolt that holds the heater box there..rite under it.Ran the wire through the hole, down the side of the center console, and leave the egt meter under the pass seat. When tuning the car..place it on the seat..turn it on..hit max and forgetaboutit..easy.When done back under the seat it goes.

A little 1/4 inch wire loom hides that yellow wire nicely, along with some tie wraps.

Passenger side header where it goes into the turbo next to the O2 sensor.

If you get an SMC egt guage theres a picture how to do it.
