My car posted in my local NH CL with phone number only.

My cell rings & I see a conneticut number.
I decide to let it go to voice mail because I am at work when it comes in..

Hi I am intrested in your BUICK. (notice he said buick, not turbo limited).
I am out of the country right now, but I will be in NH in 2 weeks at........SILENCE.....SHUFFLING papers......silence.....in Mountainboro so i would like to come look at the car. I don't have a phone for you to call me so email me at JOEBULL****@BS.com

Yeah right! what these people dream up.

Then I get another saying he can help me sell the car on his website for a fee.. TAKE A HIKE PAL.

So if he is over in the sandbox war, You would think he has better things to do than dream about about long distance car deal?

Sounds fishy especially going into a new hampshire winter....

Frikin snakes are evreywhere. Be careful! I posted some old jewelry on CL for my wife and we got all kinds of stupid replies from people in Zimbabwe or BFE wanting to wire money or whatever. We took it to one of those gold melting places.

I called an ad from Craigslist on a truck I wanted to look at when I got back in a few days, also didn't have a number he could call back because I was in the middle of the Pacific. :)

There are a lot of scammers tho. Just tell them to call you when they are local.

Exactly why call 2 weeks in advance? Just call when your here..

Doesn't matter I got my winter storage spot setup.
The sale can resume in the spring. I am going to get the car buffed & take care of the small issues that I didn't want to deal with this year.

I call BS

I've dealt with CL quite a bit. There are a LOT of scammers that prey on CL sellers - most of them are pretty basic like the "Zimbabwe money wiring thing", and some are pretty tricky. You could be a few phone calls or emails in when you get that odd request that has something to do with wiring money or whatever...its a scam. Scams are as good as the people behind them - some are dumb, and some are smart. I trust about 10% of the people that contact me through CL.

This reminds me, I need to respond to that Visa UK email saying I won their contest!

It seems like I get 2 or 3 emails a day that are nothing but scams, It's not like I post my email everywhere, yet I get the UK lottery, the "lawyers" for some rich relative, etc...Honestly, I guess there are some people that are more dumb than the ones doing the scamming since they continue it! All it takes is one... I've had some good luck with CL, but everytime I sell something off it, I want to meet them somewhere besides my house!

Little6pack, since the # came up on your phone, have you tried calling it back to "see if he's back in the states"? LOL

I won, I won

I won 3 million dollars this week, all I have to do is wire them 1500 for insurance> Am I lucky or what?

Oh I like this one...

(invariably with bad grammar and spelling)

I'll be happy to pay you full price for your ______ sir, I have in my hand a cashiers check for $2500 I can send you right away, unfortunately I am on a business trip in _______ and cannot get funds in a smaller increment, so I will need you to simply wire transfer me the difference, look forward to doing business with you right away mate

I'm always like, wow I'm so flattered...my used car is so nice a businessman from the UK scoured the internet for it, will buy and ship internationally, and wants to give me full price on the spot! Yay! I knew my not-running 88 Celica would be worth that price to SOMEONE

.

Did you call the number back?
What's the number? I will call it. I love messing with scammers, telemarkerters, etc.:D

I ran across a couple of these scammers on CL. The BS of "I'm out of town on a business trip right now, but send the money and it will be shipped for free when I return" just makes me laugh.

Posted our Jeep for sale on L,, same thing...... dumbass scammers. Never again

I just purchased a motorcycle off of Craigslist. A first I was a little reluctant and it seemed funny because the number I had to call was a California number for a bike in NC but I took a chance and it was legit.

B.T.W. I'm not a scammer but I did get him to knock $250 dollars off of his price though.

Yes I did a reverse lookup and got Hardford CT.

I will post the number in a bit as my cell phone died & I have to charge it in my truck ARRGH!! Cant find the in home charger.

I posted a free 5'x4' window from where I put in a garage door for the GN. Free is free people, I had someone asking me to deliver it to them... I am sure the idiot ratio is way up on CL.

It makes my day when I get a telemarketer to hang up on me.
