Ok, I saw an ad in the back of a Road & Track magazine for a GPS tracker unit that tracks all the police cars?? It says that the police cars these days all have gps on them so the police stations can track them and that this gps tracker unit will detect all the police cars nearby when you drive around?? Is this true?? If thats the case, this would be much better than a radar detector!

Doubt the thing they're trying to sell would work, but our company has GPS on all its trucks. You can pull up the program we have and you can see all the trucks throughout the area. It even notifies us if one of the trucks has left its assigned area. So, can you track police cars, absolutely yes. Can you as an average citizen track them with a $100 gizmo that's sold in the back of a car mag, I really doubt it. You'd need the cops GPS locator numbers.

Kinda like saying "buy this phone and you can call Pam Anderson", you buy the phone, but its up to you to get Pam Andersons phone number.

Please tell me you don't actually believe that.

Well, seeing that gps is everywhere these days, it wouldnt be hard to believe that the police cars are equipped with them and that this could be tracked..Seems like a great idea ;)

Hello? We, the public, own those police cars. Since they belong to us, we the public should be able to track our assets, right?

So you're saying the cops that are driving the cars should know where their cop cars are? I would hope so!

No actually I was saying that if you don't want a GPS tracker on your car, why should all those police cars have them. Our tax money could be better spent than installing GPS units on police cars.

I would rather see them spend the money on B.P. Vests and current technology weapons to protect the officer's that are protecting us.

Just my .02;)
