I have been strugling to get my boost under controle on one of the posts a guy asked if i had tried the grainger valve set up what is this do any of you know thanks

thanks for the info but that seems a like a little more than i expected with the luck im having with this car i would probally mess somthing up?thanks though

The wastgate is just actuating very slowly like 3to 4 seconds at 16 psi until it will drop down to 14 and then i can floor it if the car is pinned wide open the boost will just climb and i will let out as fast as i can If i dont it will peg my gauge at 20 pretty scary I dont try this unless I change somthing and think I have fixed it.

I forgot to mention like I have in all my other posts i have replaced the selinoide and all the lines about twice now and they are all clamped exept the one that goes to the turbo

could i have a leak in the peace that plugs into the back of the manifold or would this not matter?

thanks for any help

Reread all your posts.
What chip are you running? Is wastegate rod real tight? or Loose?
Sure you have the Y with the restriction the right way?
Is your adjustable wastegate aftermarket or DIY?
With the wastegate rod off, does the arm for the puck move freely?

I've never had luck with a valve and the stock w/g solinoid (sp?). I don't see a reason to run both.....just put the valve in between a boost source and the w/g, if your using the stock wastegate then you'll need to just one line hooked up (can't remember if this is top or bottom - help) and if you have the 86-87 style gate you'll be set.

Thought about that. I was wondering if the chip was causing the spike. ECM trying to control boost.
You would need to put the valve in the line from turbo to wastegate. Do away with the Y setup. Unhook the line from the wastegate to throttle body block. Leave the wastegate line open and block vacuum port on the tb block. Then boost will be dependent on how much your valve is open.

I dont have a chip the ecm is stock and I have checked and rechecked I am prretty shure its all hooked up right but the puck does move freely with the rode off is that good or bad?

so i could just run the valve inbetween the turbo and the gate.

I haven't read your other posts so I don't know the whole story.
I was having problems on my 84. It ended up being a leaky actuator on the waste gate. I just tested by blowing or sucking on it and air was getting by. The one I swapped with had two vacuum line openings. The one farthest from the arm is the one that goes to the y. The inside one can be left unhooked, but don't plug the end just leave it open. I tried it plugged one time, and thank God I still have head gaskets. It was 26 pounds of boost and climbing.

I have got the boost steady now guys all i did was hook a line to from the turbo to the wastgate is there any downs to this it seems to be working fine to me
