The handle only, not complete shifter assembly.

Turbopete, I think what BW is asking you is whether you need just the handle or a complete handle as there are 7 pieces to a shift handle. 8 if you count the retaining clip.You buy a new one you get a BARE shift handle, NO end button, slide, spring,or any of the 3 chrome trim rings. Which buy the way half of those parts for the handle are discontinued from GM.

In that case, the complete handle, minus the retaining clip.
I tried to find the replacement at GM, and it does look like you would have to buy all the pieces individually. That would be a P.I.T.A. even if you could buy all of the discontinued pieces.

Usually the plastic on the handle cracks and all the internals are reusable.

Broken internal plastic

The internal black plastic piece broke in three pieces. I tried to superglue it, but it would not hold. It is easier for me just to get a good replacement from a parts car. I am sure there is one out there, somewhere...

Yeh, you get the bare handle, one end button and the retaining clip.

OK, I think I got it

Salvaged the three trim rings and kept the retaining clip. I should be good, I hope.
