A GT 61-63 percision turbo. Has anyone heard of this one?

This turbo came on a car that I bought around three to four years ago. I was told from the owner that it is a GT 61-63 percision turbo. Thing is I can't find any listing on such a number anywhere. ( Custom build maybe? )

Any info would be great.

Thanks

take the downpipe off and see what numbers are scribed on the the exhaust housing.... most likely it is a 61mm turbo with an A/R .63 exhaust housing... now all you gotta do is figure out what exhaust wheel... and that is probably scribed on the hsg.... hopefully

Ok took down pipe off and THB3-69 is what is stamped on the exhaust housing. What is that telling me?

hmmmmmmm..... since a 76 is a P-Trim ... an "educated guess" would say a 69 might be a stg 5 wheel.... so IF your compressor wheel is a 61mm wheel you have a 6169 or a 61mm w. stg 5 exhaust wheel..... lets see if Patrick chimes in to shed some light

Where should I look to see if the compressor wheel is a 61mm? Or what should I measure to see if it is?

you can measure the compressor wheel? easier if the compressor hsg was off. but you can get a rough estimate?

Measured it and the rough estimate is 61mm.

So lets say its a 6169 with a stage 5 exhaust wheel like you said. What hp level should this support? Efficient boost output? low 11sec turbo? etc? What do you think?

its all in the tuning and efficiency of the engine as a whole... people have gone low 11s with a lot smaller turbo then this. DO YOU HAVE THE SUPPORTING MODS??? to accomplish this? thats the question.... this board AND THE SEARCH FEATURE are your best friends.... use them wisely;)

I agree that tune and efficiency is everything on these cars.:D

Looked on the precision website and came up with this number:

300-1450 6169E 650-hp Jrnl Brg Boosted .63 A/R is what I belive I have.

Shooting for a mid 11 sec car. So it looks like this will be more than enough turbo.

My car setup is in my sig. If you do a 1/8 to 1/4 mile conversion my car should run a very high 11 right now.

So I should be able to get to the mid 11 range with more boost and timing.

Thanks for all the help
