Both are correct. 4 fronts is the ideal setup but you can use 2 fronts and 2 rears with wheel spacers and longer wheel studs. Use the search function for "GTA wheels" you'll find info about it.

Preferably, you want all four fronts. Or two rears with spacers like mentioned above.

Here is some info that I gathered some time back.

Pontiac GTA rim manufacturer: JWC
Manufacturer info:
GTA rims were available only in 16x8.
The Pontiac GTA’s came fitted with these rims from 87-92.
GTA 86-88 are the non-dimpled 2 piece design.
GTA 89-92 are the dimpled 1 piece design.
The GTA’s are marked “front” and “rear”.
Front offset:
Front backspacing: 4.75”
Rear offset
Rear backspacing: 5.25”
Notes: It has been stated that the dimpled style is more desirable. The reason GM made the dimpled style was because the non dimpled style center hub was weak and was prone to cracking. In addition, 4 fronts are more desirable due to the offset.

Buick GNX rim manufacturer: JWC
Manufacturer info:
GNX rims were available in 16x8.
Buick GNX came fitted with these rims in 1987.
All GNX rims were not dimpled and were a 2 piece design.
The GNX are marked “OFF-15” for the fronts and “OFF-23” for the rears. Both front and rear also have the marking of “8JJX16”.
Front offset: 15mm
Front backspacing: 3 15/16”
Rear offset: 23mm
Rear backspacing: 3 9/16”

JWC wheels...? ?

Just for fun, I went on the internet looking for JWC wheels...and this is what I found: NOTHING!... ...nothing at all!...Are they still in business? How come there isn't a single link to them?... Don't they have a website?...

GTA 86-88 are the non-dimpled 2 piece design. 89 were non dimpled, too...at least my TTA's aren't dimpled
GTA 89-92 are the dimpled 1 piece design.
The GTA’s are marked “front” and “rear”.
Front offset: Front Offset is Zero
Front backspacing: 4.75” this is actually about 4.6"
Rear offset Rear Offset is +17mm
Rear backspacing: 5.25”
Notes: It has been stated that the dimpled style is more desirable. The reason GM made the dimpled style was because the non dimpled style center hub was weak and was prone to cracking. In addition, 4 fronts are more desirable due to the offset.

The Dimple style is more desireable because they are newer and generally in better condition. Non Dimpled are "more correct" if you are looking to recreate a GNX or TTA wheel.

That logo is actually JWL which stands for Japan Light Alloy Wheel.

Wheels made in Japan have to pass certain government standards to receive this logo.

Here is more info on Japanese wheels

I checked my TTA wheels and they have a build date of 6/88 and they are the 2 piece, non dimpled variety.

GO with all four fronts... using the others just don't look right!

This is very true except for two specific circumstances:

1: If you run 12" brakes in front, rears will actually fit better than ftonts, due to the 3/8" increase in track width per side of 12" brakes.

or

2: If you plan on having the front wheels narrowed, for drag racing or a big/little look, the "rears" will work better if narrowed than "fronts".

All TTA's came with dimpled wheels. I have ownd cars #14 #1022 #1426 and raced with a bunch more. I have never heard of another TTA owner with the 2 piece wheels unless swapped out at one time. Just a FYI.

Thanks for the info. My wheels must have been swapped out then.

I thought that a 6/88 build date for the wheels might be a little early.
