I'd guess 14.8 for a rookie best time. :)

i'd guess somewhere in the 280-320 hp range. you didn't mention what kind of heads are on it.(porting?) and just how mild is that cam? i'd hope for high 14's if i was him unless he can belt out some good 60's.

el camino go fast? its pretty hard, i had an 84 el camino that weighted 3305 w/ me in it... this is what i had done to it...

1. 350 bored .030 over out of an 84 corvette
2. 10.5: compression pistions w/ ‘racing’ connecting rods
3. Holley 750cfm carb w/ vacuum secondaries
4. Holley aluminum high-rise dual-plane intake w/ inch spacer on top of it.
5. Holley aluminum heads, with 2.02 intake, 1.65 exhaust
6. .510 lift cam
7. Moroso 8qt oil pan and high volume oil pump
8. MSD 6AL ignition
9. MSD Billet distributor
10. hooker headers
11. Dynomax super turbo mufflers, 2.5 from headers back (no cat)
12. 700-R4 w/ shift kit and a 32-3400 stall converter (shifted so quick that it barked the tires changing 1-2 from a normal take off)
13. 10 bolt 7.5” rear end with 4.10’s and a mini spool
14. SSM lower control arms
15. tires 225/75/14’s (I think, this kind of slipped my mind…)

This car NEVER hooked… from a stand still, no power braking or anything, I could light up the tires till the top of 3rd and some what into 4th, while facing side ways. The engine I believe was dynoed at 425hp@6150 and 425 ft/lbs@4250. the only major difference I see in our cars is tires (unless I missed something). I got a pair of slicks for the car, but a week later the car was stolen  but what can you do.

This is the BEST run I EVER got out of the car…

60’ … 2.581
330 … 6.852
1/8 … 10.415
MPH … 68.57
1000 … 13.436
¼ … 15.939
MPH … 90.72

The worst run out of the car, (I lost the time slip :( ) was a 19.001

My friend has the 19 sec run on video, and you can see the tires smoking till about the 1000 ft mark… Well I have 4 other time slips from the car is you want to see what they are… well hope this can help.. I don’t think that he will run that good… stupid traction

neil

425 hp in a 3300 lb vehicle WITH TRACTION should get you into the low 12 high 11 range. what the hell kind of tires did you have on it?

cooper cobra 225/75/14's on one side and yokahama (sp?) 225/75/14's on the other, i burned one of the tires up when i had the one tire fire rear end on it.. i know they were bike tires, but i had spent all my money on that nice engine....

i'd say about 230 rwhp and about 330 ft # of torque. maybe a low 15 or maybe even 14s if it can get traction.

i'd say high 14's also. traction we'll be a problem, just like my elk
till i leaded the gate and some slicks.

Vendor defendor - i  cobra cooper tires! thay are really hard
but good for regular daily driving but at the track

Yeah LVD is at 2.1K feet too. Prolly 15.5 best his first time out.

Hmmm, I guess he ain't going. :D

Maybe he'll put some NOS on it. ;)

He wants to grudge race his kid in his '73 351 Mustang, he'd prolly lose.

Not sure what heads are on the car either.

Thanks.

el camino go fast? ;)
Hell yes, but you are not going to without tires and suspention to put the power down.
BTW Vendor Defendor nice Elco!

a 74 El Camino is a whole heavier then an 84. Id gues closer to 3600 without a driver/

Franks right a 74 is pretty heavy in fact the whole 73-77 gen is probably the heaviest of all Elcamino's. I'd say closer to 4000lbs.

I did a search on them and found someone who claimed 3250 weight.

I thought it would be more myself.

The worlds fastest El Camino was a '74 too found that link.

7 something in a plastic bodied tube framed car. LOL

I think mid 15's is accurate maybe high 15's with the 4 speed, I know he don't power shift it. :D

3250lbs ... ahh no.
It is more Salvage.
Maybe for a 66-67 Elky curb weight with a Big Block.
Heres my, 70 SS 468 Brodix BB-1 OEFI heads, UD 288/296, Victor jr, 850 Demon. MSD system, ATI convertor, Hotchkis suspension, 3:31's, Moser axles, and much more.
My El Camino
With Aluminum heads and Intake it still weighs 3980 with me in it 3720lbs without my 260lb tail end:D
The Gen 4's weigh alittle more, I just wish I could find the time slips w/weight from my fathers 77 SS El Camino.
BTW I think your Bosses car is gonna run 16.0 to mid 16.5's getting a heavy car to leave with a stick on street tires takes some practice.

Geoff

Im with geoff. I was being conservative when i said that weight. Im sure its more.
Il bet a case of coors lite that the car will not break into the 15's

:)
