I put the 2 low beads(h4) with new lens in and now the bright lights come on with the low beams . Anyone run into this crap . Plug and play my as-...
any info will be appericiated...

Did you get an adapter harness?

The ground is in a different spot on the H4's I believe.

There's usually an adapter harness, short wires with flat connectors on one end that you use to plug into the stock plug, and new female ends that allows you to swap connectors on the new H4 lamps.

same here didn't have time to mess with it so i took them out and sent them back. would like to see what other's say or have done as well.

There is not much to say, the pinout of the H4 bulb is different than stock.

Here is a picture of the H4 pinout from the back of the bulb.

The factory wiring is as follows in the plug:

Black is common, tan is the low beam element, light green is hi beam element.

The short adapter that plugs into the factory plug and has 3 leads you can swap and place on the lamp pins where you want them is needed and it's really easy to get them to work with it.

Note: the reason you don't see the third wire in the adapter picture is my high beams are over 100 watts and are fed from a relay and 12 gauge wire and not the factory wiring.

The factory high beam wire is used as a trigger for the relay which runs right off the battery thru a circuit breaker.

Remember if you use high wattage lamps you will need relays and a heavier duty harness.

Standard 55/60 or 55/80 watt lamps should work okay on the factory wires.

I just added Caspers harness and H4's and ran into this same problem. The highs are on dim when the low's are on and vice versa. Where do I get the harness or what, at least, is it called. Do I need a harness for the lows & highs or just the lows?

Thanks a bunch

The H4 pinouts are different compared to the standard sealed beam headlamps. You would need to either remove and shift each pin from each connector, or use the adapter plug-ins for H4 conversion.

You can also just make individual wire leads with10-12 gauge wire and spade connectors that will work just fine. Wrap them with tape or conduit to make a clean harness type look. :)

Could someone tell me where they sell these adaptors or at the very least their proper name so I can google 'em?

I can't seem to find them with the search terms I've tried.

Thanks a bunch!

Mine came with my Hellas. Good lights come with good stuff.

I thought all the H4 lamps had them included I guess not.

You can make them as stated before, Pep Boys may have the proper spade females to go over the lamp pins.

They may also sell a 3 prong plug that mates with the stock female harness connector.

Or you can email these experts and tell them what you want and they should have them.

Here is one link.

Automotive Electrical Connectors

I would think you could use an H4 female socket on the new lamps and then the pigtails stuck into the stock wires in the right place, or perhaps email them to see if they have the proper male pin connectors to plug into the factory harness or cut off the ones on your existing lamps and solder them to the pigtail wires and insert them into your factory connector.

Lots of options but those people listed are lamp experts and that's where I get my replacement lamps but haven't needed many over 15 years of daily use. 2-3 tops.

Read up on the relays, harnesses, and wiring info. in case you want to go high wattage.

HL28101 is what I had in mind. Plugs onto the H4 lamp and has pigtail short wires out of it.

Perhaps if you mate that to a HL28000 it will plug into the factory harness when you swap the wires to their proper locations.

Luckily H4's and the factory plug are the same type.

I just made a new harness. The only thing the factory harness does is trigger my 30 amp relay. The relay gets power via 10 gauge wire (I know overkill) from the back of the alternator. Then out of the relay the 10 gauge wire goes to each low beam +. Ground on each bulb is 10 gauge to the inner fender bolts. I can draw something up if anybody wants it.

NOTE: I do not even have my high beams hooked up, they are not needed, and the Powerstroke IC makes them difficult to aim!

Thanks Guys!

I just pulled the pins out of Casper's harness as John suggested and set them as they should be for H4 using salvageV6's drawing and stock wiring information. Easy as pie.

Couldn't have done as easy without the board. Thanks again!
