I went out and started the car and let it warm up to op temp and turned it off. Came out 20 mins later turned the key and the engine cranked over but would not start,it's been a long time since something like this happened. My first thought was maybe a fuse had blown, but after checking them they were all good.

My next step was to go to the site Steve Wood has Vortexbuicks-etc.com

I went to the first page of troubleshooting and did the injector noid light test and the noid light blinked when cranking the engine over, so i had injector pulse from the ecm and the cam and crank sensors were working.

I then did a spark test and there was no spark. I followed the troubleshooting tree for no spark and after testing for voltage at terminal P on the module connector it showed no voltage there,it should have showed battery voltage. I had installed a hotwire to the ignition coil earlier this year and the relay went bad not sending power to the terminal P wire for the coil. So after reconnecting the wires to terminal P and bypassing the hotwire and relay i checked for power to terminal P and it showed battery voltage and the engine started right up when i turned the key. I really hate when my car doesn't run. It's all good now though.

The relay was a heavy duty type from autozone but it was probably made in China. I guess i need to see if i can find one made in the USA if that is possible.

I'm pretty sure i would have found the source of the no start condition as being the hotwire i had installed but it's nice to have a site like that of vortexbuicks-etc.com to have handy in case that it's something more complicated.I thank Steve Wood for having made a great site to help us all in keeping our cars running and road worthy so we can enjoy driving them.

I have nothing but problems with those types of relays. Even though it is overkill when I need to use a relay I use one of the heavy duty ones like some older cars had to send power to the starter. If you remember the old Fords they had them mounted on a fender well. At least you broke down in your driveway and not on the road.

Terminal P of the CCCI is not the coil feed. Hotwiring this feed does nothing to improve the spark.

You should have used terminal M. **That's** the coil feed.

Hey thanks!

I stand corrected, I did use terminal M not terminal P. I went out and checked to be sure and it is the 3rd wire from the left, pink with a black stripe.

I'ts kind of funny i checked the wrong wire for power in my troubleshooting but found the problem in doing so. I'm starting to think maybe old age is moving in faster than i would like to admit, especially to the eyes and memory lol.

I bought a Dorman brand relay from O'Reilly auto parts and hooked the hotwire back up to the ignition coil and everything is back to normal and running good. The Dorman relay is made in England so hopefully it will last a bit longer than the one made in China that i had used before.
