Hard vacuum tubing splice

I was hoping someone would be able to suggest what size rubber tubing I should purchase in order to make some repairs to the hard plastic/nylon (whichever it is) tubing which leads to (if I understand correctly) the HVAC controls. I found a spot where it cracked, and intend to splice it with rubber tubing. I am hoping to avoid buying anything I don't need, so would prefer to avoid trial and error. I would guess that the hard lines are ~1/8 OD, and if that is the case, would 7/32 ID be a good splice, for a snug fit? The hard line from the Autometer boost gauge looks to be the same size, so I intended something similar for re-plumbing that as well, since the boot that came with it ripped.

It pains me to say it, but financial circumstances, combined with lack of free time to enjoy her, has convinced me to prepare my baby for sale; getting the heat and A/C working would certainly further that end. This means solutions that work, but are cheap. Not poor quality, just cheap - I am willing to sacrifice some minor aesthetics, but not to push issues forward to the next guy by using bubblegum and duct tape.

Alas, I also need to get beer, so that I may weep over it.

If it has cracked the rest isn't far behind. I would just replace the whole thing unless you like chasing vac leaks. The stuff is probably 25 yrs old and very brittle if it is anything like mine.

You make a good point. I should figure out where the my vacuum pump is and test the rest of the lines.

Also, while I agree with the sentiment, unfortunately Thomas Jefferson never said "The beauty of the second amendment is that it will not be needed until they try to take it." The wording is not consistent with the era, and the quote's first demonstrable appearance was in 2007, by Matt Carson. I am a supporter of the second amendment and fan of (and minored in) history; as such, I've done a fair amount of research into what our founding fathers did and did not have to say about the matter.

"No Freeman shall be debarred the use of arms in his own lands or tenements."
-from the draft of the constitution of Virginia might be a good choice for the sentiment.

"The constitutions of most of our States assert, that all power is inherent in the people; that they may exercise it by themselves, ... or they may act by representatives, freely and equally chosen; that it is their right and duty to be at all times armed; that they are entitled to freedom of person, freedom of religion, freedom of property, and freedom of the press."
-from a letter to Major John Cartwright, this is good one as well, albeit a bit lengthy.

There's also his "tree of liberty" quote, but there's some additional context that shouldn't be overlooked with that one. Really, that can be said about any quote, but some more than others. And McVeigh was big on that quote, so that's another issue with it.

Anyway, I hope that this was useful to you, considering you have already given me some useful advice; I know I certainly enjoyed re-acquainting myself with some of Jefferson's writings.
