Chasing this problem for a while. Parking lights work hazards work turn signals work. But when I step on the brake no dice. Car was a roller before so this is a issue that could have been there before. And now that I'm at the end of the build this is the biggest issue I ran into yet. Any suggestions on what this can be. All fuses have been checked inner fender grounds and trunk grounds also checked. Thanks

White wire in the turn signal switch is probably broke.

Does the high mount stop light work? That gets power directly from the brake switch. If it works and the tail lamp brake lights don't, as said it could be a broken wire
in the turn signal switch. If the high mount does not work the switch could be bad. I will try and post a pic of the schematic from the factory service manual.

Not the best pic but here is the brake switch part of the schematic.

Btw this is on a 86 ttype. The window brake light was removed could this be a issue.Brake switch was replaced with a used one. I unplugged the turn signal from under dash and plugged a new turn signal lever in but didn't install it in the column and still no luck. Would this have been a correct test or should I have installed it to the column. Steering column is damaged, steering wheel is wobbly is it possible this could have messed with the wiring inside it?

Check brake switch orange for pos volts.
Check white for pos volts when pressing brake pedal.
Check white wire IN AND OUT of turn SIG connector

Noticed how some threads like this never are concluded, well not this thread. Figured out the problem and brakes are back in action. The problem was the wiring from the dash harness to the wire harness in the steering column. Both the white wires from the dash harness to the steering column connectors were pulled out of there sockets and soldered together . So I repaired the ends and put them back in there sockets and there you have it brakes lights work once again after sitting since 2001. So thanks for the pointers fellas
