I'm sure they work fine, they should function about like Methanol. This is the way I look at it.
Methanol: High Ocatne, Less Cooling
Denatured Alcohol: Moderate Octane, Moderate Cooling
Isoprophyl Alcohol: Low Octane, High Cooling
Distilled Water: No Ocatne, Best Cooling
If I goto the track I run race gas with distilled water I have plenty of ocatne to run high boost so I use the water to cool the engien off and act as an intercooler, for street use I just run rubbing alky, because it gives enough alky and cooling effect to run high boost on the street. Xylene and Toulene will in affect give you the octane but not as much cooling. The less water you have in an injected fluid(alky wise) the less cooling effect. So they will be like running methanol.
On top of that, xylene or toulene are EXTREMELY flamable
i went to a paint store and asked for xylene once, and the guy told me about someone who used xylene to clean something in an apartment with rags. The rags were left in the building, and it self combusted and caused a fire to the building.
so what is the best kind of fluid to run on the street for maximum psi? methanol, denatured alcohol, ispropyll alcohol, or distilled water. if water gives the best cooling wouldnt it be the best to use to run the highest boost levels? everyone i knows uses alky but distilled water is cheaper and you can make it right. when i get an alky kit i want to run the fluid that gives me the best performance and psi.
Water is great and yes it cools great! But when you are running 93 octane pump gas and over 20 PSI boost I would make sure u have some octane to back it up, Denatured alky works best for most. If u richen up too much try Isoprophyl alky...
the alky lube will mix with straight alky but will not mix with water...have to use something water soluble like RMI-25 or the Prestone waterpump lubricant, I think.
