Are the Head Bolts the same on the Hot air and intercooled motors?
I ordered a set of ARP's and asked the company I ordered them from to make sure that they were for the 84-85 block and they said they were. Long story short I have head bolts; the box says 86-87 Buick GN.
Help me out RED!

ok as RED:D would say....if the head bolt threads come all the way up to the deck of the block than you need 84/85 head bolts.
if the threads in your block for the head bolts start adout 3/4 of inch down in the block than you need 86/87 bolts in which case are longer so the part #s are different....and:mad: if i can find the damn receipt for the 85 bolts i would give it to ya...hth vinny

I called the company I ordered them from today and they called ARP who told them that they use the same bolts. Any ideas?

call them back and tell them they are idiots

but I dont see a listing for pre 86 motors

put stock bolts back in it...nothing wrong with reusing them

Does anyone have the part number for the propper size ARP head bolts. I just measured the ones they sent me against the originals and they are like an inch longer. I don't want to reuse the originals because some of the are starting to look stripped on top.
Anyone got the PN?

Its been a few years for me so I could be wrong. But I don't think they were in the arp catalog. If I remember right the shop I go through ordered a stage 1 bolt set and exchanged 2 bolts to get a set.:)

I just pulled out an old receipt from '96. The ARP bolts on my '84 are part # ARP123-3701. Receipt also reads Buick V6 Stage 1. They are 12pt bolts.

Do you remember which bolts needed to be exchanged?

Thank you guys for the part number.

When I talked to the rep at the company I ordered them from yesterday she called ARP and that is the part # that they gave her but her "TECH" said that the 86-87 bolts will work. Her tech called me about 3 hours later and told me that he has worked on 83-84-85-86-87 turbo buick motors and used these bolts on all of them. When I mentioned the threads coming all the way up to the gasket surface on the block he about went into shock! He said that he has never seen a block that the threads don't start 3/4 of an inch down.
I guess this block is extremely rare huh?;)

Which blocks have the threads all the way up like mine? All of the 14 bolt oil pan blocks? Just the '84's?

Once I do eventually get the correct bolts I will try to put some info in the sticky at the top of this forum to try to help out the rest of you guys w/ this kind of block.
