What are the best Gaskets to use for Engines running more than 25lbs of boost with 8 Bolt Heads. It seems that whatever I use don't last...

single steel shim with studs ...tight

i was running bolts wth mine but am going to studs now

the heads will lift from time to time with 8 bolt heads and atleast with the steel shim they dont blw out.

I vote for the stock ACs. I have seen people run em to 26+# no sweat. They also have no knock, probably why they survive.

Which Brand of Shim Type gaskets are you talking about? I have tried ALL kinds from Fel-Pro's to Victor's. I had heard that the GM's were also Victor's, but it seems that they are not. The best results I have had were the Stage II Victor 14 Bolt. They would survive 20 to 30 runs at 27lbs of boost. Keep in mind the right amount of Fuel too.

I second the steel shim gaskets with GE-1200 silicone. IMO, this is the best setup you can use short of o-ringing the block. My dad ran the steel shims last year at 30psi and they lasted until we sold the motor. One thing to think about though. Red said that if the head lifts it wont blow the gaskets out, but if you get some sort of detonation, somethings gonna wanna blow, and its usually the weak link. With the steel shims, the heads are no longer the weak link, and it may blow something else apart. Not to steer you from these gaskets or anything, just something to think about

I will post this again for the benifit for those who would like to try an awesome gasket. I now have some experience with them. Ran a 7.02 with a 60 ft of 1.54 with them last night in the 1/8 mile, and everything is still perfect. COMETIC is the company producing the gaskets but buy them through: cvproducts.com for a $40 break on two gaskets VS. buying them from Cometic direct (i know, weard huh!). They are multilayer steel shim embossed and are spring steel instead of carbon steel. Embossing will not take a set. Torque ARP bolts to 85 and run it! No retorque required!! Install is dry due to the coating them put on hem at the factory. Part number is: C5692. Order 2 of that part number. This is my experience with them only and of course all are free to use what you like. Hope this helps someone.

imports have been using cometic gaskets for a while now

i looked at one a guy i know runs on his turbo'd honda and they look to be a killer gasket but for now im sticking with my $10 a piece gm steel shim for 85 turbo motor.

How about id I get the Heads O-Ringed from Weber and use GM Gaskets? I heard that was a good idea...
Which Shim Gaskets are you talking about? The ones from GM? And how many Gasskets per side?

I researched them.... It is in this section if you want to search it out. I think $140.00 for a set was what I found and they are thinner. Specs and part numbers were posted when I got it. You know the route I went
