I have owned this 15 years and wanted a license plat hold down
Guess what factory put one.

Yep...Holds down the plate when you fill up. Plus you have a place to put the gas cap.

That is what the design is for. Nobody knows this and simply replaces this type of bracket. Me included.

i put the cap upside down , holds the plate almost flat
dont forget about the knob that holds the spare ,
it has a slot to make it easier to turn the wingnuts that hold the jack in as well as the plastic nuts that hold the tail lamps in

A buddy of mine pointed that out to me on my first (86) TR. That was 87... LOL

Now, that spare knob thing is one I never knew!

Gave my spare, jack, and all the rest of that stuff to a guy in Alaska some years ago...... Oh, well.

My car will never be even near stock again, though it might "sorta" pass for one, to the casual car show observer/challenger... Heh, Heh, heh...

I bet it was in the owners manual, He took time to read it and shared that valuable information with you. I have never read one a owners manual and I have no buddy's
