Im putting new ported iron heads on my '85 also going to champion ported intake, works 5857 turbo and switching to E85
Does it matter much which head gaskets I go with when I do the job?

Maybe go with Cometics , however your block deck will need to be cleaned up at the machine shop with machining to a 50 RA finish

Cometics would be the optimal choice if the block was resurfaced.
Otherwise probably better off with felpro performance

I would use Fel Pro or Mahle composite head gasket if you do not have a fresh machined block Or possibly RJC head gasket.
but I personal would not use any steel or multi-layer gasket on a unmachined surface
I have been using a composite for 7 years at 25 lb boost with a 5857 with no KR Zero problems. No water leaks . I use ARPs studs with ARP thread sealer

I'm a VICTOR REINZ 611058200 kinda guy but it appears rockauto is out of stock. If you are going "send it" kinda boost that cometic might be worth the hassle. Must have "perfect" surfaces and I'm just not that good at that.
Other wise as above the felpro is a proven choice. FEL-PRO 9441PT
As stated on the rockauto site tty head bolts aren't reusable though I know some do it. I'm more of a stud type so we do that.
VICTOR REINZ 021028301 Info
IMPROVED DESIGN
I see you are in on the 85 so this could work
Not sure what is improved but that ain't a bad price if it works out.

Let us know what you do and how it works out.

The Victor Reina is what I run But I have not seen them for some time. The 85 might be a good choice. no data but there .010 thiner I think than 86-87 gasket

Do not us Felpro 9441 they are complete garbage and even there reps say they should not be used at anything over 14 psi stock boost. Here is a Felpro 9441 that blew into the valley on an alcohol car at 25psi with no detonation they simple cannot hold cylinder pressure.

So looks like RJC’s are looking like a more viable option for an unmachined block?
Anyone have any negative experiences with em?

I was gonna use them I spoke with Jason about them but by block is 40 over so no good.

Not for nuttin', but before my current build, I used the Fel-Pro 9441's up to 20+ P.S.I. with no issues.

Keep in mind, this was with little to no knock & watching vitals with a Scanmaster & a Powerlogger.

New build was built for more power & a bigger turbo, so I went with Cometics on a freshly machined .10 block.

The motor that went out on me was built in 2017 with the Felpro’s, when my builder spoke with the Felpro rep he said the older 9441’s where better made maybe you had those who knows.I had zero knock as well on the scan tool when it went.
