has anyone ever heard of torquing the head bolts 5 lbs tighter or ten pounds tighter so u dont have to retorque just wondering about to do my car and i was wondering if this works using steel shim gaskets thanks ps what does everyone torque them at

What bolts are you using?

I am not an expert but One Expert (Turbo Riviera) told me once that the HA stock bolts hold up great and he never had any issues with these. Bolt to spec and let it go. He also recommended new ones each time you pull the heads. Maybe be will jump in and see if my memory serves me correctly.

Remember that depending on the calibration of the torque wrench, you could already be 5-10 over or under). If (for the sake of this argument) your wrench, plus general reading error puts you at 7 higher, and you add another 7, that could be 14 compounded.

We’ll have to wait for the experts.
Interesting question though, ESPECIALLY on a HA with all the piping on the passenger side.

hey thanks i read this before and about a million others im sure u know what im talkin about lol theres so much info here im using the stock type bolts i was just wondering if something like that would work to save the extra work of the retorque
