Header crack repair

Fixed a crack in my header panel today using the Vette panel adhesive stuff. Came out pretty good for my first attempt at something like this.

Did you have to drill the end of the crack, and/or groove out the crack so more of the repair material "penetrated" deeper? Looks like a pretty nice job. I have never heard of the Corvette panel adhesive...

I grooved the crack pretty heavily with a utillity knife and feathered the edges pretty good. Once I take the header panel off the car I am going to repeat the process on the bottom side.

I've used the panel adhesive before when I used to repair corvettes it was used in panel replacement in Fiberglas you glue it on with the adhesive also use it in the seams

I have couple of Vettes......have done repairs like this.....you are doing it just right. I saw no mention of doing the backside earlier but just read you are doing it......nice work there and doing it right! Keep us updated.

personally if it was me on the under side for support I would grind 2-3" on both sides of the crack lay fiberglass mat and resin for strength and I only say this because I've work professionally glassing vettes the adhesive will hold but on the underside the mat and fiberglass will be a stronger repair it will give you holding strength on both sides of the crack instead of counting on the adhesive to hold on the cracked area (gives you more of a footprint ) your repair will work ,but you will have to be careful a v'd crack is not much of a area to give the adhesive the ability to have a strong grip on the repair.
