IMG_3336.JPG header1.JPGheader2.JPG Finally got around to fixing the cracks in my driver's side header. It was much worse than I had thought, there was one tube which had completely separated, and there were large cracks where the three tubes collected, the tubes were also leaking at the flange and needed to be re-welded as well.

Believe it or not after the car warmed up you couldn't hear an exhaust leak. It was a royal pain in the ass to get off and repair but thanks to my buddy we got it done. Part of the header had to be TIG welded the rest was fixed with a MIG. End result car spools like crazy and has never run better, those spanking new Nitto 555r's don't stand a chance.

I know I have a really nasty crack on my driver's.. I have been meaning to pull it and probably will when i go to re-do the suspension. How does it weld?

It was a Kirban's driver's side replacement, the rest of my exhaust is ATR's looks like new still, header was purchased around 2004, I also have the Kirban's 2.5 inch stainless cross over pipe. The header welded up OK, the crack in the tube was tigged, however the three tubes at the collector had to be mig welded. I wasn't the one who welded it, luckily my friend had the tools and the know how to weld it up. We clamped it down to a steel table too to keep the flange true. Took him a while but the car runs simply amazing now. I had let it go a bit longer than I had wanted to because with work, wife and kids there just weren't that many days where our schedules lined up. I think I have put less than than 3,000 miles on this car in six years. time to drive it more now.
