Is there a hi-temp sealer to seal the header to the turbo? RTV copper only goes to 700F. I need twice that! I have the copper gasket, but it still leaks.

you shouldn't use a gasket....have the surfaces trued.....no leaks then

Just got the turbo back from John Craig. ATR header.

bottom line.. I need a sealer

why dont you try the turbo riviera gasket-works great, dont remember the part number-i think its 1261269 gm

Go to McMaster-Carr

Do a search for high temperature insulation (or something like that). Buy a sheet of whatever stuff suites your needs and make your own gasket.

Just be careful of what you buy. You don't want the gasket disintegrating and spitting fragments into the turbo.

bottom line, I'd say you need a little machine work....you can use the gaskets, but they won't last...why not do it right?

Woody is right....

after going through all of this on my car. carfully take the housing off the turbo, take the header off also and have both surfaces machined. then use some Copper seal on the matting surface. that is the only thing that worked on mine.

if you dont do that you will keep fighing this problem when the other solutions fail.

If you check the surfaces and they are flat. You can do what I do. I use RTV Ultra Copper. Not a real thick coat either.

Sure it's only supposed to be good to 700º, but heck it seems to work just fine.

Whatever you do, don't put a gasket in there. That will be the fastest way to warp one or both surfaces!!!, and then you'll ALWAYS need a gasket.

John Craig has a gasket that works. Won't blow out and it will last. The surfaces do have to be close to flat. I have a used gasket and it looks good enough to reuse. If you want, send me your address via private e-mail and I'll send you this gasket. It is a metal impregnated flexible gasket.

I have heard RamChargers sells a composite gasket that works well.

I use an ATR copper gasket with some Orange Copper high temp RTV and it leaks a schmidgen.
