I have a Terry Houston downpipe on my GN and I was wondering, has anyone ever used the header wrap on their downpipe? The heat is cooking my upper control arm bushings.

While I don't have a THDP, I have used the blanket type wrap. Its never really too pretty, but I think I like the heat it removes from the engine bay. I'm not 100% sure but I think when you maintain heat in the exhaust, the velocity of the gas is higher...

As an alternative, you can make a sheild that bolts on near the affected bushing.l I believe a few vendors might have examples that you can purchase. Hope it helps, Dan

I used 3" ceramic sleeving from www.mcmaster.com on my thdp - easy to install and looked better than the wrap. Really cut the underhood heat, which went way up when I went from an atr 2.5" ss dp to the 3" ss thdp. Big concern, though, is that at least two people have had fires when flammable fluids like trans fluid or motor oil leaked onto the dp and soaked into the wrap instead of just dripping off the dp. Can't say they wouldn't have had a fire anyway, but I was always careful to keep an eye on mine. After about 5 years of street driving it was looking kind of ratty so I took it off. Next time I pull the dp I'm just going to get it coated.

coating?

Who makes a coating or where would I have to send my downpipe out to get coated? should send the rest of the exhaust as well?

There are many places you can go, where you from??

I did HPC on everything, even the turbo compressor cover to match.

Pic is a TH 3 1/2" DP, this stuff helps big time on keeping the temp down.
