I use Felpro 1000. I do not know if it is steel but it was recommended by experienced members here. Brad

I had good luck with the stock steel shim but they're not available anymore and I don't know of anyone that has some stored away. I second the Felpro 1000s. They seem to hold as good as the steel gaskets and don't leak water. They do cost quite a bit more though.

I have Feldpro 1000 on my hot air. They work great and do not believe the idiot book. The heads on an 84-87 are the same. I am very happy with them as I am running 20 lbs boost. Good luck-Read my signature. Good luck- Brad

sounds like the hot air cars have a deeper block height, so using the 1000's will lower the compression.
