Only the brights work. In the low beam position, the side markers work but not the low beams. Is the switch bad? Is it hard to replace? Car was sitting for a couple of weeks and has under 50k miles. Thanks!

Did you verify the bulbs are good? The multifunction switch should be pretty easy to change. Some do have bolts behind clock spring which is for the airbag. That means the steering wheel has to come off. never mind I just looked in mitchell pull the upper column cover and there are two screws holding the switch on.very easy.check all your fuses first.

The low beams always worked before....I even replaced one a few months ago due to the neighbor backing into me and breaking a headlamp. I didn't think there would be a fuse just for low beams, but if there is, I will look for it. Thanks Chopped39!

Check #4 40 amp fuse in under hood fuse box.Check fuses 2,3and12 all ten amp fuses and check #7 and 13 both 20 amp fuses.check for loose grounds.this is out of Mitchell. good luck

my 94 LHS had a separate fuse for high and low beams- i think they might have been in the fuse box under the hood.
i really, really hate the way newer cars are wired.

Looks like the fuses are good. My mechanic found a troubleshooting area in a website he uses. It says to disconnent the wire to the headlight switch and jump a wire from the red/white wire to the purple wire (or something like that....it isn't in front of me) and if the low beams come on, then it is a bad switch. Anyway, I went ahead and ordered a switch. Only Napa was able to get one. Other parts stores said their warehouses are out and it is on back order. It costs about $40 and according to the picture it includes the headlight stalk on the left of the steering wheel, a big plastic piece with wire sockets, and the windshield wiper stalk on the right of the steering wheel. I don't know how hard this thing will be to install. Should I search for a Chrysler website equivilant to turbobuick.com for installation tips? Wife's 04 Malibu just had both low beams go out at the same time. Car was warming up in the driveway and when we came out the lights were off.

Guess it is not as uncommon as you would think.

Must be an Illinois thing.

Thanks Chopped. This might be a stupid question, but is there any chance of setting the airbag off? Should I disconnect the battery first? Can the airbag go off with the airbag disconnected?

No .the airbag goes through the clock spring behind the wheel.
