just wondering who has put aftermarket ported iron heads on there hotair such as t/a performance or champion irons? what kind of gain did u see? im thinking with my setup turbo and gutted intake i will see more then .5 gain. we will see....

What happened to 11.99 on stock heads? Anyway to answer your question I bolted on a set of ported irons I bought from Lee Thompson and although I have'nt been able to turn it up yet the increase in power is amazing. So far I've only been able to run 18psi because I had cheap hyperucractic pistons in my engine and if I got more than 10* of kr while trying to dial in my set up I would crack a piston. Got a new set of forged waiting to put in and we will see the full potential of my set up when I run 26-28 psi. Back to subject I bolted on these heads and before I would have to run 24-26 psi to see 13.0 time slips @ 104 mph. Put the heads on and ran the same 13.0 and mph @ 18 psi with no other changes. If every pound of boost is 10 hp thats 60 hp easy. Think about it, you can run all the boost you want but if the bottle neck is the heads all that boost you see on the gauge is just sitting in your intake manifold. Even a home port gasket match job done properly is better than nothing at all.

Great comparison data on the porting.

well i wanted to do 11.99 on stock heads till i found out that i had low compression in the #5 cylinder. i lifted a head and it was leaking air on the compression stroke into the oil gallery so now that the heads are off i might as well do them.
