HEEEEEELP!!! Turbo problem

I bought this TE 44 off ebay a few months ago. The seller kept the exhaust elbow and actuator-This is where my 2 problems start! When I tried to install my stock elbow from my stock turbo, I noticed the flapper hole in the TE44 was HUGE! My stock flapper will fit inside the hole! What the heck am I supposed to do now? The hole in the 44 measures 1 5/16 wide. Do I need a downpipe or did the previous owner open the hole up too much???? NEXT PROBLEM-My wastegate actuator from my stock turbo won't bolt on either, the holes DO NOT LINE UP! Do I need a special wastegate actuator?

I think you can get a downpipe with the correct size puck but that looks big!!

As far as the actuator goes, I noticed the same thing with my new turbo. It looks a little different than the stock one. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the HD actuator is a little different than the stock one. If thats what was on there before.

you can buy a plate from RJC racing(Jason)and drill out the wastegate hole to fit the stock puck but you need a actuator that will fit the te series turbos. the plate will go between the elbow and turbo. i had to do this with my 44. the wastegate hole was opened up for an external wastegate...bought a plate drilled the hole out for my thdp and problem solved..........hth..........Bob

Looks like that housing was definitely ported for an external wastegated downpipe. Either get Jason at RJCs plate or buy a new turbine housing. #2, the stock wastegate actuator will not bolt up to a TE series turbo (which obviously you just found out the hard way.) Either purchase a new standard or heavy duty spring wastegate that is specific for TE series turbos from PTE or, or use one of you backing plate brackets that is on the turbo and weld it to your stock actuator once you have it aligned properly. The only difference between a standard springed wastegate actuator and a heavy duty actuator (if both are for the same turbo) is the internal spring in the Heavy duty is stronger. If you decide purchase a new turbine housing from PTE, you will need this part number, THB3-31. (That is if your turbo is a TE-44 that was built by either PTE or Limit Engineering) Going with the plate method will space your downpipe further away by the thickness of the flange, this might cause some issues with a stone stock wastegate elbow assembly. If you do decide to get a 3" Terry Houston style downpipe, it completely replaces the stock cast iron elbow. Typically, people port the wastegate hole on the turbine housing out to 1.20" - 1.25", anything larger is typically for an external wastegate setup.

OK guys,my hole calipered out at 1.3 Can I get a downpipe with a puck thats 1.5 and be OK? What are Reds downpipes? Puck size? G-Body Parts downpipe puck is too small(1.375). I need a downpipe PREFERABLY before Saturday! Where to get?????

Due to the internal dimensions of the flapper valve and puck area, you're not going to find an internally wastegated downpipe with a puck that's larger than 1.375", there's not enough area inside the commonly used flanges for a puck that large. Either get RJCs flange and drill to specs,

Or swap turbine housings. In all my years of messing with these cars, I have never seen a puck that was 1.4". Here is a picture showing what I'm referring too with interior dimension space.
