Hello,
I have a question about "normal" play of a torque converter installed on a transmisssion input shaft. When I installed an original GM D5 converter on the transmission I noticed that there seems to be a lot "up and down" play. Is it normal for a converter to be able to move in a direction perpendicular to the input shaft? Or is it a sign that the converter is no good. It came out of a car with very low miles, under 25,000.
Any input would be helpful. I just want to check before I button the transmission up in the car.
Thanks,
Dan

Transmission has about 6,000 street miles on it and was rebuild by a Turbo Buick trans expert. I took out the 9 11 verter to put the car back to stock. The stator looked new and there didn't seem to be any abnormal play in the front shaft. THe play is in the converter.
