My drivers door was sagging. I decided to replaced the bushing. Removed the top bracket and went to put the bracket exactly back where it came from ( I can see the where the paint marks were). I only removed the top bracket and just loosened the bottom. I put it back the way it came off and when I closed the door its approx 6-8 (!) inches off!. Hmmm step 2 on ideas... I closed the door. Measured the bottom on the door to the floor. Aprox 12 inches. Then I opened the door, jacked the door up to 12 inches, snugged the bolts and closed the door. SH*T.. Still off by 4-6 inches!!

Where it;s off? EVERYWHERE! The front of the door hits the fender. the front lower sticks out from the body and the rear top of the door sink INTO the body! This is a freakin' nightmare!!! I NEED A BODY PERSON!

HELP!!!!

I went through the same BS. The best advice I can give is that you need 2 people and alot of patience. It took me about 20 minutes to line up the passenger side and about 5 hours for the driver's side. I had to take the fender off, realign the door to the body, then realign the fender to the door.

Biggest pain in the a$$ I've ever went through on any car in my life.

You might get lucky and not have to take the fender off, but I would definitely recommend a 2nd person. Just take your time, and you'll eventually get it.

Good luck.;)

FUN, FUN!
I have some hints. Get some gear wrenches if you dont already have them. Use masking tape on parting lines of fender and door for chip protection. Double it too. Now your ready.
For up and down movement, adjust hinge to body bolts. Tighten only 2 out of the 6 to test each closing. For flush alignment adjust the hinge to door bolts. HTH

Wow, I just got my floor jack out and held up the bottom of the door as I adjusted it. It all came out fine in the end and it only took 15 minutes. I guess mine wasn't as bad as your was. Good luck in your fix!

body mans help

OK,there is only one right way do do this and a thousand wrong ways. The right way and in every body shop way is to first (easily remove the fender),loosen all bolts for both hinges. Now providing the door locking mechanism is in the stock location...shut the door all the way and lock it. Take a bottle jack and place it under the front of the door.Alighn the front of the door according to the hood....(take measuremant from other side if nessessary..Tighten all bolts very securely. If still sags..You might just have a bad hinge.
