I want to do a few things to the car over the winter, and have $450 to do it.

Should I

A: 340 Walbro/hotwire, Accufab regulator, and a FP gauge?
B: 340 Walbro/hotwire, and a Scanmaster?
C: 340 Walbro/hotwire and some new injectors?

Car is pretty much stock as is, other than a K&N setup and a catback exhaust.

I'm going to do all of the above, but am figuring my Christmas bonus to be about $450, so I'm not sure what to do first. The 340 Walbro is a given, but I don't know if I should worry about injectors or a Scanmaster first *shrug*

Any opinions?
:D

The 1st thing we need to know is what are you wanting the car to due.

1 are you wanting to go as fast as you can?

2 do you plan on racing the car or do you just drive it on the street?

You can go a long way with the stock injectors I got into the 12s with mine. Now I would say do the 1st one on your list you need the fuel pump and the reg so you can turn it up.

Just my .02 I am sure you will get many other ideas on how to spend that money.

Hold on, I'm sending you my paypal account. You can send me the money and I'll take care of the decision making and spending for you;):p

Later,

Steve.

number 1 and 2.

Walbro with hotwire shouldn't be more than $150. Regulator is $100. I got a small autometer guage that goes on the rail, complete setup for $50. That leaves you $150 for a used scanmaster.

If your even going to do as little as just a chip, your going to need the adjustable regulator. The gauge is a must have with a regulator. Before you do any other modifying (injectors, more boost, etc), you'll need a scanmaster to see where your numbers are at a baseline.

Well, I'm not looking for outright speed, just a fast, reliable car. It'll be 95% street driven, with the occasional trip to the track just for kicks, no serious racing or anything.
Figured I'd address the fuel system first, but I always read about how critical a Scanmaster is. Only thinking about new injectors because the original ones are 17 years old after all, it's probably due.
Thought about getting a rail cleaning kit, but figured I'd just replace them with some upgraded units. Eventually I will, but I figured I'd get a few opinions on order of importance :)

FP hotwire and scanmaster..... all of those are musts before you do any ting else... period. dont argue.

its in the rules some where.

Yupp, The man speaks the truth!

B. You need the scanmaster! I wish I would have gotten that first on my last GN. Would have saved me a lot of money/headaches.

Well, I'm not one to mess with the Buick laws, so I just ordered a Scanmaster from Full-Throttle, and will order the pump/hotwire from Racetronix pretty soon.

FYI, Full-Throttle has the Scanmasters on E-bay for $229 with free shipping. They're not shown at that price on their website, so if you're looking at buying one, check E-Bay, I think it said there were 9 left...

My master plan is pretty basic:

Walbro 340 and hotwire
Accufab regulator and a FP gauge
New injectors (undecided)
Scanmaster
Turbotweak chip
Razor's Alky.

That's it, I'm leaving everything else alone, and I'm going to see what I can get out of it, hopefully mid-high 12's or something :D

Add some boost, sticky tires and maybe valve springs to the list and you should run some mid 12's.
May need some other small stuff.
Have fun tuning:p

Yup, I remember. Yeah, you should have, lol. Jeeps are just as, if not more addictive than the Buicks, and you wait and see how much you sink into that thing :D It all starts with 31's... Then you'll eventually lose it like I did and spend $$$ on front and rear lockers, 5 1/2" lift, 36's, a winch, etc. etc. etc... Ha ha!
You'll have a blast with it, I do miss mine. What makes it worse is a guy right up the road from me bought it, and I get to see "my" Jeep sitting in his driveway all the time. I'm the one who put all the time and effort into building it, not him :( *sob*
But I still have my SV1000 and a new Buick to play with now, so I'll be OK ;) . One of these days I'm gonna find a 5 or 6 year old Cherokee to build up a little (little, yeah right :D )
