I have master keys!!!!!!

I use to repo cars a long time ago, I hate to tell you but these cars are easy as hell to steal. If someone wants it they will get it no matter what you do, well you could weld it to something:cool: I have great security for my cars, 1 my real nosey wife, 2 my two Gotti pitbulls, 3 My 75 round fully loaded never let me down, AK47. I am covered no mater what goes down:biggrin:

Oh Yeah I forgot

I know in Illinois it is NOT CONCIDERED STOLEN IF YOU LEAVE THE KEYS IN IT!!!!!

or your just a dum ass to leave your keys in the car. which happen to my in laws, which they recieved a 50 dollar ticket
in the skokie mall

You're spinnin your wheels brother. Don't get wrapped around the axle about theft security. I hate to say this but there's nothing you can do, to prevent theft. You can prevent starting, but not theft. Most cars are stolen with a flatbed out in the open. Do you think anyone questions the driver of the flatbed either? Nope. Not at all. The column lock? Worthless. I could bump off any lock you put on there, unless it's one of these, Bump Key Proof - Abloy 231 Padlock 2 high security keys - eBay (item 300215512177 end time Apr-18-08 12:11:47 PDT)
a combination lock, or something really old like say, an old slaymaker. The best thing to do, is to get Grundy collector car insurance, and keep your car in sight. A CCW isn't a bad idea either.

Hey Claude how much money does it set you back? Diomedes on the Ravelco site they go over what thieves do to defeat security devices. The club, the collar are all defeated in under 30sec. Diomedes I also have one of those custom hood props, my hood shocks took a dump needto find some for a fiberglass hood ..

Yeah, the column guard is just a deterant, It may slow someone up a few seconds, but that's all it's worth. Get a very good alarm with battery back up, kill switches, etc...

got the column guard

Ive got a column guard, in fact I rigged it to where I will have to cut it off if i need to get it off. I can deal with a damaged column and the cost of replacing it (just sort of view it as insurance)

My question still remains? How do theives steal the car? (other than a tow truck)

I'd guess they run a coat hanger between the window and rubber undo the lock, bust off the column and go.

They bust into the column at the turn signal stalk. That's why police are suspicious of old G-bodies with the high-beams stuck on or non-working turn signals. Having knowledge of exactly what's in there that allows you to start the car isn't relevant. Suffice it to say that it's very simple and once the column has a hole in it you can start the car faster than you can with the keys. My car is a recovered theft and I drove the car for months this way until I got a new column. Not one person or cop became suspicious that I drove my car with no keys and a screwdriver during that period of time

As people mentioned you have to have a multi-pronged approach to anti-theft if you plan to leave the car out of your sight. First is the column collar. It's a big, visual deterrent and will slow a thief down. If they get past the collar you need to have some sort of fuel and/or spark interruption. So that the car won't start. Beyond that, there's not much you can do. Alarms are useless. Some sort of GPS tracking would be good in the event someone does get away with it.

how is the column lock just a deterrent?

There are two types I am thinking of, one is that red thing that you put on when you park the car that needs a key to remove in order to put the key in the ignition switch. The other is permanently mounted to the car, but still allows access to the ignition switch. The one that you remove by using a key is the one I am refering to be a deterrent, if you've ever lost the key to one, you'll know what I mean, they are easily removed.

Easiest way to unlock a g body, since there's no door frame above the window all you have to do is pry the window out a couple inches stick your arm in and unlock the door. Not even a need for a coat hanger. I believe in the column lock. I have the new style 2 piece black one. The first piece goes on the column and has the piece welded over where the back of the turn signal is. The other piece locks on to cover the ignition. I don't know how you can defeat that. I guess you can pick the lock than break the ignition? I got one from my local junkyard, but only the one piece was on the column. I had to pull the wheel and destroy the hole plastic casing and everything in it to get it off. The flatbed is the real concern of mine.

Speaking of theft deterrents what are your thoughts on one of those Grant things that allows you to remove the steering wheel?

Yeah i know it's a PITA and it still won't eliminate a tow truck BUT.........

I would like to design & sell a fuel lock. Figure a mechanical valve that goes directly in the fuel line, turn a key to shut off the flow, kinda like a water shutoff but this needs a key to operate. You might have to run the fuel line to a spot near the floorboard, drill a hole where the lock cylinder head could fit through, so you could lock / unlock without opening the hood. I know, kinda far fetched but I bet it could work.

funny thing is some people dont know what a gn is. i was at school and the officer helped me break in to my car.( locked the keys in it) he walked up and didnt question me about why i was using a cloths hanger to get in or why i was using one just asked if i was ok. that is scary to me that s cop didnt ask me for id or proof the car was mine.
