help me with tranny slip

my car developed a tranny slip. about mid way thru 1st gear when it usually shifts its like it becomes isconnected and just spins up the motor for a sec or two then shifts. if i let off then get on it shifts right to 2nd. if im cruising out of lockup and punch it, it downshifts and then proceeds to slip and car goes nowhere. if i ease into it in lockup it seems to work good but its that downshift that gets it usually. tried messing with TV cable. factory setting made it too soft and screwed up shifts even more and made car less responsive. i had to tighten it back to the 3 clicks i had it out before. i tried callin Victory but Rich was in the hospital and i dont wanna bother him with my problems so i figured maybe Bruce or someone on here who knows trannies could help me out. im thinking its a band problem but i dont know much about trannies.

BTW, the slip was barely noticeable beofre i took it to the track then towards the end of the night (10 runs) it got worse to the point its at now.

The band is probably wasted. Did you check the fluid level? Over fill it a bit and see if it helps.
