Help out this dumb wimp, please

Body mounts -
Bolts are out, but I cannot figure out how to jack up the body.
I've done the search and read the posts, and have read the procedure on the gnttype page.
But I don't understand the 2x4 "T", and balancing everything on a 4x4 pushing on a 1" lip on the gas tank doesn't seem too safe to me.
If someone could pretend that they are talking to a dumb and timid 14 year old (I'm way past 14) I'd sure appreciate it.
I'm going to do this myself, but I'd like to have all 10 fingers left when I'm done.

The body is suprisingly light, no mathch for a floor jack and a well placed 2x4, follow the instructions and take your time. Remember, you only raise it enough to change out the bushings.

I found the necessary "testicular fortitude" and went for it.
The rears and GNX bushings are in there.
Having a bit of trouble with the (#2?) bushing on the passenger's side.
The car is lifting off of the front jack stands.
Do I need to loosen the (don't know the #, but it's the one on the far front under the radiator) to be able to get at #2?
I used to only open the bathroom door to do that.
