A good freind of mine is wanting to know if anyone is using the TE-45a with stock heads and how it's working for ya? He has 60lb inj, 3'' thdp, walbro 340 w/hotwire kit, PTE stock location IC, 3000 stall. The heads will come as soon as the funds are there.. But for now how will it do? Thanks for your help guy's. Scot w. :)

i do, 45a/w 63 housing p trim........i have a 3500 stall(on 15lbs boost) and it spools great. best to date is in sig but i think i can go 7.0's or so, about 11.20-30 1/4 mile.......best to date 1/4 mile is 11.5@117 on 30psi boost......had alot of problems so we shall see how it does this season.it's a great high boost turbo, it wakes up at 26-27 psi or so....

You have a sweet converter for that turbo. I run the same AC nonLU. 1.49-1.51 60' for me with MT drag radials.

(Edit, oh you friend needs more converter, didn't see that. You have a good one)

I ran a 11.1 with a little te61 on an untouched long block. Could have run more, but wanted to drive home. I limited launch to 9-10PSI. Never tried more. You should be able to rip out a low 11 with ease. I then tried a TE67, same times! That turbo did not like high boost. The 45 is about the same as a gt67 except the compressor wheel is old school, not the GT style. It (45) would be better at high boost. GT67 is better on the street, spools up quicker. I then stepped up to a t70, felt great on the street, never took it to the track, winter time...but my engine is no longer stock. GN1 race ported, comp roller, FAST, ported intake, etc.....

Get some good tires, and a $200 trans brake (Ihave 1) and high 10s should be no problem. Tell him to get ready for tranny work, axles, safty equipt, etc...Then go for the heads and cam.

Please keep the info coming in, It's very helpfull for all of us with questions

Bump, TTT :)

I ran a 7.5 at 94 mph stock long block, 140k miles, 1.8 60 foot, pump gas/alky... and if i remember correctly, about 26 psi

Now that I have a functioning transbrake I do believe I will significantly better that time, I also have done a substantial amount of tuning and the car is running better than ever. Hopefully some low 7s before it blows up :)

It did run an 11.5@118 before I owned it on race gas, I dont know how much boost that was on, I think 28, could have used a more agressive tune too

Or you could run a smaller turbo & probably do about as much..I run a 51 turbo & times & boost ar in my sig..no converter either..just 51 turbo & front mount intercooler & 50lb inj..7.60's @93.5..the car needs a converter I think..I bet it would run 7.30's with a 3k converter with the mph im running..If I went with anything else I think id go with a 61 turbo & a 3k converter..if you want the 45 thats great to..plenty have ran great numbers with stock stuff with them I just dont know if the big ones are really needed..moderate turbo & a nice port job & nice converter would work great on street or strip..
