HELP!! Removing Instrument Cluster

Pulling instrument cluster for 145 speedo upgrade. I got the speedo cable unclipped(finally) but how do you disconnect the group of wires soldered into the printed circuit board. I can see two screws (maybe 7/32) but can't get anything on them. Can someone help???? Tried to trace wires back to see if there's a connector but no luck.

You mean the wires that end in the green box? The wires that attach right next to the speedo drive shaft? That's your VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) and you should be able to get the console out with that attached. You may have to fish it out of the area/cables, you may need to remove the radio to get to the sensor to get it out.

If the cluster is out, yoou should be able to use a 7/32 to remove the black ending of the wires, it's an optical sensor.

No not the optical sensor, I got that one disconnected. This is a group of about 7 wires that are soldered onto a printed circuit board inside of the instrument cluster housing.

1000National, I had a smiliar problem when I was doing my custom gages. Thats the tach wiring harness. The connector on mine was stock behind all of the plastic and I had to remove the instrument cluster surround to fish it out. Once thats unhooked you will be able to take the cluster out (presuming the speedo cable has been released) Hope this helps.

Thanks for the clue, I'll go back out and drop the surround and cuss alot more until I find it. Someone,at one time, installed a security system on this car. There's a bunch of inline splices, fuse clips, etc. just hope I don't pull anything apart.
